NIL - Texas style

No…not every kid not even close. But believe what you want
I can see in next few years almost every kid get something might not be a lot but could see even backup kids get few hundred bucks

When it's said not every kid, that's painting a picture of several hundred schools with thousands of athletes. The problem is, that's not the issue here.

I prefer looking at it from the perspective of DI schools who will separate out into what I see as three groups. The well heeled donor group at the top, mid-range donors, with some help to a good number of players, and at the bottom, the schools where the free pizza and a can of Sprite is all they get, if that.

We'll see where it goes, as time wears on.

By the way. You ask where I get my stuff? Donors that I know, and attorneys working towards the deals. I'm looking at it from outside the button down shirt society you are. They're the ones with the gold nugget bank accounts.

And I am seeing it from agents and agencies who work with collectives who put together the deals and deal with things such as group licensing & IP on a daily basis….Not some button down shirt society. Even schools like USC who does not have a collective have not skipped a best , see Jordan Addison who chose USC over Texas….and full disclosure has an NIL deal (legit) with a financial services firm in LA.

And so what. Mertz has an NIL deal now, so does the OL.

Oh, Lord! Jordan Addison decided on USC because Caleb Williams is there, and you know that someone already put a bee in his ear that there's going to be gold in an NIL deal out there. It's just a matter of time to get your name on contracts. A year from now, you'll see exactly how well Addison is being appreciated through NIL.

With Williams at QB, and coached by Riley, USC has just become a passing team, and they've restocked their WR corps with the best talent they could get via the portal. Addison knows he's going to be given everything he needs on the field to establish himself as one of the best in college football.

At Texas, Addison would have been one of the better receivers, but their passing game is not nearly as prolific as what Riley and Williams have brought to USC. He would have been stupid to become a Longhorn.

So basically NIL money was not the deciding factor. Wow I’m shocked.

Oh his NIL at USC is just fine, he will be well appreciated.

Rest assured, there are both opportunities on and off the field that will make him happy. You can count on it.

So, you're saying only a select few are going to get the money? I'm afraid you've missed something here.

Big Joe Johnson, an offensive left tackle who decides to go to Timbuktu U to play ball, and gets $250 a month to pay for pizza is going to go out there and block his arse off for Johnny Football, the QB, who is getting $1,000,000 a year to smile for the camera?

If you think that's going to fly with Joe, you're sadly mistaken. You're going to see more spread, across the board, to insure you get the right people on the field, and doing their job.

That doesn't mean 90-100 guys are going to get a huge chunk, but it will probably mean that somewhere in the 30 player range the figure will be substantial, and tiered below that as you tentatively work through the depth chart. Even that could change, year to year, and guys not getting enough will be entering the portal to go where they get what they consider "a fair share."

This whole thing isn't being done in a vacuum. It's being done on a broad scale, in a world where greed, avarice, and self gratification is going to destroy a lot of programs if they get too far out of line on money per player. In fact, an imbalance in payments to these kids could destroy a top program.
I was wondering when someone was gonna mention how the other men on the roster are gonna feel when they are putting in the same amount of hard work, 2 a days, weight room time, etc. I can't wait to see how that plays out.

Personally I don’t see it as some issue. Kids have been getting paid for decades. The other thing is the portal has not been kind to 99% of the kids entering. I think the list was 1,400 or so at last count.

Kids know what programs get exposure. They won’t dog it know the shot at the NFL is down the road. Scouts will notice. I’m not naive enough to know there will be some jealousy but wide spread no
