#Packers rook Josh Jones playing nickel LB, pushing Morgan Burnett to safety. Wonder if we'll see more of that than Burnett at LB.

CB LaDarius Gunter beat deep again. Adams stays balanced and fights for Rodgers' pass. Gunter failed to make a play on the ball.

Rodgers goes deep to Bennett on the first play in the Pass Under Pressure drill. Outstanding defense from Burnett causes the incompletion.

Between fumbled handoffs and botched tosses, you can tell #Packers didn't spend much time working on their run game this offseason.

Rookie report: The Packers are easing top pick Kevin King into things. After he missed most of the offseason program because his school (Washington) was still in session, the second-round cornerback worked mostly with the No. 2 defense on Day 1. "Mentally, I know Kevin's ready go," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. It may not be long before King moves his way in with the starters but for now, Davon House and LaDarius Gunter took the first-team reps.

Best play of Packers' camp Day 1: The Aaron Rodgers to Davante Adams connection that took off last season was on display early. Rodgers delivered a perfect deep ball to Adams, who had beaten cornerback LaDarius Gunter on a go route. Adams barely had to outstretch for the ball that he caught in stride for a 60-yard touchdown. Gunter's biggest weakness is speed, and it showed when he let Adams beat get behind him.

The old take the penalty not the big play approach ;):D

i'm okay with that in an actual game where we are in a position that we can't give up the easy points. but in practice? that's just a bonehead risk of someone getting hurt.

Justin Vogel is killing it so far in camp as the punter. Didn't read anything from the first day in pads that was surprising. Really kind of a blah first weekend of NFL camp news wise.

Packers training camp Day 3 notes and observations

The Green Bay Packers put on the pads on Saturday morning for the first time since the NFC Championship game in January.
Here are some notes and observations from Day 3 of training camp at Ray Nitschke Field.
Josh Jones in pads doesn’t disappoint
The hype train keeps chugging along for rookie safety Josh Jones, who had another good showing in the first padded practice of the year. Jones flew all over the field and was always around the ball wherever it went. He made a tackle in the backfield untouched for a tackle and a safety blitz on one play that could have resulted in a sack.
His physicality was on display as he put a good hit on fellow rookie Malachi Dupre. Veteran tight end Richard Rodgers didn’t appreciate the hit and got into Jones’s face. The scuffle was quickly broken up by players.
Running backs get to work
The running backs got a good amount of action on Saturday that showed more than what has been seen before today.
Ty Montgomery was the leader of the backs today, making some good plays with the ball in his hands. Montgomery was rarely stopped at the line of scrimmage or behind it, while he also caught a screen pass that resulted in a touchdown. Pass protection was a different story for Montgomery, who went 1-for-4 according to Ryan Wood of PackersNews.com. Pass protection with Montgomery has been a storyline this offseason and will continue to be in his development as a running back.
Rookie running back Jamaal Williams also ran the ball very well in practice as the No. 2 running back, while fullback Aaron Ripkowski had a big screen play go for about 20 yards.
Rough day for Davis
Trevor Davis did not have a very strong practice that ended prematurely for the second-year wide receiver. Davis began practice, dropping a punt and it was not the only drop of the day. Davis in a passing drill against cornerbacks got twisted up on a back shoulder throw and in the offense versus defense portion dropped a open pass over the middle. His day came to an end after falling down hard on an attempted catch in the back of the end zone. Davis was on the ground for a few minutes, but got up on his own power and did not take anymore snaps.
Wide receivers make plays
The wide receivers and cornerbacks went head-to-head in a drill that went in the wide receivers favor.
Rookies DeAngelo Yancey and Michael Clark each made impressive catches in the beginning of the drill. Clark, a 6-6 undrafted free-agent-agent from Marshall, made a leaping catch over Josh Hawkins that caught fans attention. Yancey made his biggest catch so far on a deep pass down the sideline from Aaron Rodgers.
Davante Adams burned LaDarius Gunter off the line, getting in position for a toe-tapping catch on the sidelines, while also making another impressive catch over Kevin King on the sideline. Geronimo Allison also made a contested catch on Quinten Rollins in the drill. Max McCaffrey saw a fair amount of passes in the offense versus defense part of practice, even catching a touchdown pass over the middle from Brett Hundley.
The rotation of receivers today had Allison, Davis and Jeff Janis with the second team offense early with McCaffrey, Yancey and Malachi Dupre behind them.
Other Notes and Observations
– Quinten Rollins made an impressive diving interception in the end zone off Aaron Rodgers near the end of practice, while safety Marwin Evans also had an interception off Joe Callahan.
– Kevin King and Davon House were once again the starting cornerbacks on the outside with Rollins in the slot. In his press conference before practice, head coach Mike McCarthy said to not pay attention to the rotation of defensive backs, but there was not much mixing and matching with the first team defense.
– Jayrone Elliott started 2-0 in 1-on-1 drills against the offensive line, while Kyler Fackrell was 0-2 according to Ryan Wood of PackersNews.Com
– Kicker Mason Crosby and rookie punter Justin Vogel both had solid practices on Saturday. Crosby went 6-for-7, hitting the post on a 42-yard field goal attempt, while his longest made was from 48 yards. Vogel had three good punts with one bad one, averaging 50.75 yards with a 4.51 average hang time according to Wood.
– Rookie defensive lineman Montravius Adams did not practice today with no injury reported yet.
