So it begins.....Draft Sim 2018

I was going to try running a mock with Baker Mayfield QB as my first round selection and see how the draft turned out. He was picked by the Giants at #2. So I went with what I thought was the best player available.

14: R1P14 WR CALVIN RIDLEY ALABAMA
Selecting a non Edge or CB in round one. I fear we put a lot of $$$ in our WR and not get the return we need. Adams might be one hit from a serious concussion, not sure when Nelson is going to loose that step, Cobb is not a number one.

45: R2P13 EDGE HAROLD LANDRY BOSTON COLLEGE
Had to select best value and one of the greatest needs.

76: R3P12 G BILLY PRICE OHIO STATE
I would be very surprised to find Price here during the draft, but what great value in the third. The only question spot on the OL would be RT and I believe Spriggs can hold down that spot until BB returns.

101: R3P37 TE JAYLEN SAMUELS NC STATE
Two TE were selected right before our pick, I was hoping that Penns Gesicki would have made it to this pick, Samuels is more running back but during the senior bowl, none of the LB could stay with him as a receiving back. Great option to move the chains.

116: R4P14 CB MIKE HUGHES UCF
A good player on a good team, position of need also great value.

152: R5P13 DL NATHAN SHEPHERD FORT HAYS STATE
Broke hand during senior bowl practice, but in practice was showing he belonged.

173: R5P34 TE IAN THOMAS INDIANA
Ian is not the fastest, but he uses his hands well, good value.

175: R5P36 CB TONY BROWN ALABAMA
A Silver-back Gorilla that would be a steal in the late 5th.

177: R5P38 RB JUSTIN JACKSON NORTHWESTERN
Not the top name, but hits all the measurable marks for TTs backs.

189: R6P12 C MASON COLE MICHIGAN
Too good to pass, depth at the interior.

232: R7P14 EDGE FRED WARNER BYU
Good value, long length, needs to add a few pounds to anchor the edge.

239: R7P21 WR DAURICE FOUNTAIN NORTHERN IOWA
East West MVP, a seventh rounder that makes the 53.

Hope to get another chance to grab Baker in the first to see how that draft develops, if I do I will post it. Dub, Mark or anybody if you get the chance, pick Baker Mayfield in the first, would like to see how the draft develops for you.

Two TE's and two CB's! Depending on what happens in FA, that could be a very real scenario!

Curious...........Do you remember if Kylie Fitts was still on the board when you took Fred Warner?
If so, he might have been a better fit.........JMHO.

I like following these mock drafts. I think it's great to post as many names as possible to research as the Combine approaches!

Keep it up UWSP 88!

BTW............my son-in-law is a UWSP alum, and I worked with a fella by the name of Tim Naegli back in the 90's. Maybe you've heard of him?! ;)

That was one of the great men BB teams while I was at UWSP, Bennett was a great coach. Tim and Terry Porter were from down state, but the bulk of the team was from Central and Northern Wisconsin. Do not recall if Kyle Fitts was on the board, I think he was gone.

Got high ratings.... Ward was the highest guy on the board round 1. Traded down in 2. I would have liked a OT but wasn't in the cards.

I'm a fan of Darius Leonard! If we can't get Roquan Smith, Leonard is a decent plan #2.

Getting Kelly in the 7th round would be a steal, IMO.

I really liked Justin Reid in the mid third. First two picks are solid value. Kelly was great value in the 7th, but the greatest of these has to be Corbett, getting a potential starting guard in the 7th reminds me of the Mark Tauscher pick. Good Job.

My first time on this draft site in about four years. I would be happy with this draft, did multiple trades back when board was loaded, stop trading as the board became more filled with 3 day players.
Was pleased with my first two selection, but the scoring devise did not see it as I did, happy with both Alabama CB, two TE, and RB to boot. Saw a couple running backs that did not get drafted that I would be getting my scouts calling right after the draft. (Justin Jackson, Roc Thomas) also TE Tyler Conklin agent would be getting a call.
Definitely gave a boost to the OL with three selections and DT/DE got some speed and size.

Couldn't get Mayfield, but Rosen is becoming available. I like him more than BM. It went heavy offense early, but ended up ok? Really liked the two OL and the two WRs.

Dub
Great draft, got the future at QB and getting him after a slight trade back was awesome, Two good WR, one of the top TE and two OL (I could see Daniel potentially starting at r OG).
Hughes could have easily gone in the first, I like both of your OLB and good value in the 7th.

Only item missing might be a safety, RB, and another TE but that is where the scouts get on the phone after the draft and lock down a couple of these positions.

I keep asking myself how BG's participation in free agency will affect these mocks.

They certainly are fun, but what happens in FA could definitley have an impact on what BG does with this first draft.

Keep them coming guys! I enjoy perusing these mocks.
