I agree with TW, the guys who've hit the portal aren't gonna end up being major losses. They couldn't really crack the lineup when healthy and two of them have been buried for years.
Let me know when Charlie Strammel leaves. A first round pick who can't hang on the 4th line? He's gotta be...
The officiating was noticeably one-sided, but our guys still needed to do a better job of staying out of the box.
The east coast bias is still real. Can't believe that Buccigross was that bad on the national call.
I'd be happy if we beat Quinnipiac and don't get our teeth kicked in by BC. Hopefully have a good foundation going into next season.
The only team other than BC that has to be happy with their draw is Minnesota. They should dispatch Omaha in front of a largely partisan crowd. Then we'll see...
Here we go, USCHO has us locked in as the #8 overall. We're a 2 seed, and only thing left to do is figure out where we're going since it looks like Omaha is also in the field. Omaha automatically goes to the Sioux Falls regional as host, but I think as a 3 or even 4 seed (if they lose today)...
This will probably get it's own RSS post, but McClellan was also named this afternoon as a top-10 Hobey Baker finalist.
If they cut it down to top-5 he'd probably get that recognition too. I'm not sure he'll make the top-3 that they invite to the award ceremony, but he's got a decent case.
I won't drop my analysis from the other thread here, but this piece says USCHO's math indicates Wisconsin still has a 48.4% chance of moving up to 8th, and is solidly in the 2-seed/3-seed group of teams.
I should hope so. The 15 teams that I ID'd includes potential upsets in ECAC, HE, and NCHC.
And by upsets, i mean true outsiders crashing the party. HE should go to one of the three that is going to the dance anyway. NCHC should go to one of the two going to the dance anyway. The only true...
Coming back to this, I would not have guessed that it was 14-win Ohio State that would have been the thorn in our side.
4 of those 14 came at Wisconsin's expense.
Also, 26 wins is just a couple more than I thought possible. We're at the point where a first round exit in the NCAAs is going to...
I would bet Wisconsin is safely in.
Six conferences get an auto bid.
Two of them (Atlantic Hockey and the CCHA) are only going to get their tourney champ into the field.
Quinnipiac should get in from the ECAC regardless of how their season finishes. They start their conference tourney this...
At least if OSU manages to win the B1G, which is possible given how well they've played over the last 6 weeks, they'd have to knock off the #1 overall seed and maybe even get to the Frozen Four before we'd have to see them again.
We're only really in trouble if we fall outside the top 12 in the pairwise (and we were #6 heading into the weekend), but I could see that happening. We really needed North Dakota to close out strong and they haven't.
But it is beyond laughable that of OSU's 8 conference wins, we were what, 3...
"We won again! This is good, but what is best in life?"
"The open steppe, fleet horse, falcon at your wrist, wind in your hair."
"Wrong! Tucker, what is best in life?"
"That is good! That is good."
I was at Friday night's game, and Anchorage's goalie was hot hot hot. Got pads and glove on all but two shots - one that got a goal waived off for interference, and one that pinged off the crossbar. It was a tough break but glad to see them rebound on Saturday and have our own freshman 'tender...
Such a huge bummer and untimely injury. Reading up on it makes me think he probably won't ever pitch in the Bigs with any sort of success again barring some miraculous recovery.
Him taking Kershaw yard in the playoffs will forever be an all-time highlight.
