Wisconsin Basketball received its second commitment of the 2018 recruiting class from Joe Hedstrom, a three-star center from Hopkins, Minnesota. According to 247 Sports, he had offers from solid programs like Utah, Boise State, and Cleveland State. The plan is for Hedstrom to pay his own way for a redshirt freshman season before being on scholarship for the next four seasons starting in 2019.

An interesting 5 for 4 deal. Hedstrom is not a real high level recruit and was probably going to red-shirt anyway, but he can be the sort of solid big man you can use either starting or off the bench. It also still gives them flexibility for this class. They seem to have lost out on several high-level recruits but are now pursuing Taylor Currie, a 6'-8" forward who recently de-committed from Michigan. Hopefully they get someone to fill out that 2008 class soon.

Essentially this makes Hedstrom the first commit of the 2009 class since he doesn't really count against the scholarship numbers for 2008. That's probably a good thing since the 2009 class is likely to be 4-5 players so you still have plenty of flexibility to recruit both for 2008 and 2009 now.

Welcome to my world. You lost a decade like I do at times! LOL

Yikes . . . man you start typing fast and then just get on a bad roll. Bad enough to have a single brain-fart like that, but to stay on a roll like that . . . oops:
