The average NFL defensive rank for an eventual Super Bowl champion is 6.8 (seventh).
That tells us we need to be top 10 to win the SB. Will take a few years at least.

I don't know? ................ Capers came in 2009 and had a SB defense in 2010, and he had less to work with because he was converting a 4-3 defense to a 3-4 defense.

Pettine is way more flexible at adapting a defense to the players/skills that they have to offer.

I would guess that a couple of savy free agent signings and a couple immediate contributors from the draft and they could gel into a SB contending defense..................just say'in.
