Rather than a game thread a bye week one. So what's the fix ? Where do we go from here ?

Anyone have a gut feeling on where we are in 7 weeks ?

Oh and by the way they will not practice at least 4 days of the bye by rule:

Article 24
Section 2.
Bye Weeks: During any regular season bye week period occurring during the term of this Agreement, players will be given a minimum of four consecutive days off. Such four-day period must include a Saturday and a Sunday unless the Club is scheduled to play a game on the Thursday following the bye week, in which case players may be required to report to the Club on the Sunday preceding the Thursday game. In such an event, the four-day period shall be Wednesday through Saturday. Any injured player may be required to undergo medical or rehabilitation treatment during such four-day period provided that such treatment is deemed reasonably necessary by the Club’s medical staff.

Hopefully MM will find a way to un-shrivel his testicles.

But what concerns me is our receivers have had trouble getting open going back to last year. Rodgers finds a way to get it done but it's hard for a newbie to thread the needle like Rodgers has to do. Maybe it's all anecdotal and I'm wrong but it sure SEEMS as if I see a lot more wide open receivers when I watch almost every other offense. Perhaps our offensive scheme just never changes much and once our opponents watch game tape defending our receivers is relatively easy.

When in the hell is the last time we drafted a WR in the first round????

I think the problem with WR not getting open all the time is that the DBs know the routes. They can look at the formation we are in and know the routes these guys will run and can run with them. This has been going on for awhile. McCarthy needs to change things up and he just doesn't do it.

This says it all... 3rd and 9 in the 4th, needed the 20 or the game is over.

Which is sad, considering it was only 3rd and 9, not 3rd and 20. I understand there will be growing pains, and MM was trying his best to keep Hundley from losing the game, but for a guy who's been in the system for 3 years, a 9 yard pass shouldn't be asking too much.

MM will quickly learn that he's not going to be able to "hide" Hundley. For better or worse, he's going to have to trust him to run the offense and open up the passing game a bit. You can hide marginal quarterbacks if you have an elite defense and a great running game. Now, the Packers rushing attack has shown some promise recently, but the defense is still complete garbage. This is not going to change this year, and if the past is any indication, it might never change.

It's no secret that MM's coaching will now be put under the microscope, and for good reason. This is one of those rare chances we get to see what he can do without his security blanket. Sunday was his first test, and he failed. That's ok, it was his first game without AR, so we shouldn't put TOO much stock into it just yet. But he now has two weeks to prepare a game plan for his 3rd-year QB, and the stakes will be greater. 87 passing yards won't win us a game, even if we had the '85 Bears defense. I think we can all accept it if Hundley loses games. But it'll be much tougher to accept it if MM continues to.

We can all hope that Hundley does better the rest of the year, but I doubt it's going to matter. With the Capers defense totally destroyed every week, no matter how much he works on his game, it's not going to be enough. Even the Bears are finding new life on the field, while the Packers flounder.

Players aside, something MM said (or didn't) during his presser highlites a much bigger issue than whether Hundley can play well enough to win.

Mm had no clue what Jones had done during the game. The ONE guy on offense who did anything, and MM was totally clueless about his basic stats. The guy running the offense didn't know what was working. That level of aloofness is staggering. Any coach worth his salt would have known exactly how Jones was doing, which plays Jones ran worked best, that he was the only guy performing on offense, and found ways to get the ball to him. Instead he kept trying to give it to Hundley.. 25 passes vs 17 runs to Jones.

MM is not going to turn Hundley into some high performing QB. Hundley can probably play well enough not to lose you a game (maybe) but it's the rest of the team that worries me.

Whenever Arod goes down, we see a complete and total lack of leadership from other players. The lack of leadership is one of the key cogs to why this team underachieves. Who really stepped up this past game? A rookie. Where were the highly paid defensive "stars", so called....?

I think the Pack is lucky to be at .500 after 7 weeks. And personally there'd be no way I'd bring Arod back this year. Second break, requiring surgery, on a season where the team as a whole is lacking? Don't sacrifice next year to rush him back. Let it completely heal.
