The Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks will face each other for the 16th time during the regular season and for the second consecutive year in a nationally televised night game.

From the first meeting in 1976 until 2005, Green Bay and Seattle played just 10 times in the regular season. The teams have squared off five times from 2006-14.
Including playoffs, the Packers have played the Seahawks seven times since 2006. That is tied with the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers for the most games Green Bay has played against a non-division opponent over that time span.
Sunday will be the Seahawks’ first trip to Lambeau Field since 2009. Including postseason, the Packers are 8-3 against Seattle at home, with wins in the last five. Green Bay has won three of the last five home games against the Seahawks by 20-plus points (22, 22, 38).
The Packers and Seahawks were the top two seeds in the NFC playoffs last year and met in the NFC Championship.
This will be the first time the Packers have hosted Seattle for the home opener.
Green Bay has won each of its last five Week 2 games and is 7-2 in Week 2 contests since 2006.
Sunday’s game starts a stretch of four home games over the next five weeks for the Packers.

HOME OPENERS
Under Head Coach Mike McCarthy, the Packers are 7-2 in home openers, including winning seven of the last eight.
It will be the fourth time the Packers play the home opener in Week 2 under McCarthy. Last season, Green Bay beat the New York Jets, 31-24, in 2013 the Packers beat the Washington Redskins, 38-20, and in 2010, the Green Bay defeated the Buffalo Bills, 34-7.
Green Bay is 6-1 in home openers with Aaron Rodgers starting at quarterback. Rodgers has thrown for 300-plus yards in each of the last four home openers (312, 303, 480, 346). He has registered a passer rating over 100.0 in five home openers (115.5, 116.3, 132.1, 146.0, 109.8) and was above 90.0 in the other two (92.0, 93.3).
It is only the 18th time in franchise history that Green Bay will play its home opener outside of Week 1. The Packers are 9-8 in the previous 17 contests.
Of the 17 times Green Bay has opened at home outside of Week 1, only once did it come after the second week of the season. That occured in 1924, when the Packers beat the Kansas City Blues 16-0 in Week 3.
The Packers have 51 victories all-time in home openers, joining the Bears (65) and Lions (52) as the only NFL teams to win 50-plus home openers. Green Bay is the only NFL team to win 50-plus home openers and 50-plus road openers (54 victories).

WITH THE CALL
NBC will broadcast the game to a national audience. Play-by-play man Al Michaels joins color commentator Cris Collinsworth in the booth with Michele Tafoya reporting from the sidelines.
Milwaukee’s WTMJ (620 AM), airing Green Bay games since November 1929, heads up the Packers Radio Network that is made up of 50 stations in five states. Wayne Larrivee (play-by-play) and two-time Packers Pro Bowler Larry McCarren (color) call the action. McCarren first joined the team’s broadcasts in 1995 and enters his 21st season calling Packers’ games. McCarren has four times been voted Wisconsin Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. After originally being paired together in 1999, McCarren and Larrivee enter their 17th season of broadcasts together.
Westwood One Sports will air the game across the country. Kevin Kugler (play-by-play) and James Lofton (analyst) will call the action and Scott Graham hosts the pregame and halftime shows.
The broadcast is also available on Sirius Satellite Radio (WTMJ feed) as part of the network’s NFL Sunday Drive.

Sunday night success
Green Bay will play Seattle on Sunday night, the first of two scheduled appearances scheduled for the Packers to play in primetime on Sunday this season.
The Packers have won nine of their last 12 games played on Sunday night.
Under Head Coach Mike McCarthy, the Packers are 10-5 overall (.667) on Sunday night.
Green Bay is 22-7 all-time in Sunday night contests, a .759 winning percentage that ranks No. 1 in NFL history (since 1978):
The Packers have scored 25-plus points in nine of their last 11 Sunday night games, including a 55-14 win at home over Chicago last season.
In 12 career regular-season starts on Sunday night, QB Aaron Rodgers has completed 265 of 398 passes (66.6 percent) for 3,485 yards and 29 TDs with just five INTs for a 113.1 passer rating.

SEPTEMBER STARTS
Under Head Coach Mike McCarthy, Green Bay has been one of the most successful teams in the league early in the season.
Since McCarthy took over in 2006, the Packers have a 20-12 (.625) mark in the month of September. Green Bay’s 20 wins are tied for No. 2 in the NFC and No. 5 in the NFL.
In the month of September under McCarthy (2006-15), the Packers rank in the top five in the following offensive categories: points per game (3rd, 26.1), touchdowns (1st, 99), passing touchdowns (1st, 65), completions (3rd, 756), completion percentage (4th, 65.6), gross passing yards (6th, 8,764), passer rating (1st, 100.4) and touchdown/interception ratio (1st, 3.42, 65/19).
Dating back to 2008, QB Aaron Rodgers is one of four quarterbacks in the NFL with a passer rating of 100-plus in the month of September (min. 100 att.).

WHAT TO LOOK FOR
With a win, Green Bay will start the season 2-0 for the first time since 2011. It would be the fifth 2-0 start under Head Coach Mike McCarthy.
Including the postseason, the Packers have won nine consecutive home games, it is the third-longest streak of the McCarthy era. (13, 2010-11 / 11, 2012-13).

OFFENSE
Dating back to 2012, QB Aaron Rodgers has thrown 418 passes at home in the regular season without an interception and 36 consecutive touchdown passes at home without an interception, both NFL records.
If Rodgers throws for 300-plus yards, it will be the 41st 300-yard passing game of his career during the regular season.
Rodgers has recorded a passer rating of 100-plus in each of the first two games of the season three times in his career (2008, 2011, 2013).
If Rodgers throws three-plus touchdowns, it will mark just the second time he has registered three or more touchdowns in back-to-back games to start the season (2013).
In regular season games with five-plus attempts, Rodgers has registered a 100-plus quarterback rating in 12 straight home contests.
WR Randall Cobb needs one reception to extend his consecutive regular season games with a reception to 42.
RB Eddie Lacy finished the 2014 regular season by surpassing 100 yards from scrimmage in each of the final nine contests, the longest streak in team history. Last week against Chicago, Lacy recorded 99 yards from scrimmage, 1 yard short of extending the streak.
Including the postseason, Lacy has rushed for more than 90 yards in six of the last nine games.
WR James Jones registered two touchdown receptions in Week 1 vs. Chicago, his first game back with the Packers. It was his sixth career game with muliple touchdowns (all with Green Bay), including his third against the Bears.

DEFENSE
LB Clay Matthews registered an interception he returned 42 yards. In 2014, he returned an interception 40 yards at Chicago. They were the second- and third-longest interception returns of his career behind the 62-yard INT he ran back for a touchdown against Dallas in 2010.
If Matthews records an interception this week, it will be the second time in his career with INTs in back-to-back games (2011).
LB Julius Peppers led the team with 1.5 sacks in Week 1 at Chicago. Dating back to last regular and postseason, he has six sacks in the last five games.
In two games against the Seahawks last season, S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix recorded 13 tackles (10 solo), a sack and two interceptions.

SPECIAL TEAMS
K Mason Crosby (1,044) needs 11 points to surpass Ryan Longwell (1,054) for the franchise record.
Crosby (269) is nine field-goal attempts short of surpassing Longwell (277) for the most in team history.
In his first career game, WR Ty Montgomery averaged 35.3 yards on three kick returns, including a long of 46 yards. It marked the longest kick return by a Packer since a 70-yarder by S Micah Hyde vs. Pittsburgh on 12/22/13.

This is going to be tough.

Our Special teams vs. Tyler Lockett scares the crap out of me.

I think Rodgers should be able to do what he wants on offense - that D is not the same with the lack of depth and - Chancellor.

Stopping Lynch is going to be difficult but I think we get Datone back?

Absolutely cannot have the penalties this week.

I'm going to take GB anyways - we owe them a giant L after all the garbage we've dealt with in SEA the last few years.

Special teams needs to have a big game, that's how St. Louis was able to beat them. Montgomery either needs to break one or consistently give us good field position. We were able to shut down their receivers last year but Graham presents a whole new challenge with how awful our linebackers are in coverage. But that Seattle defense isn't the same on the road and without Chancellor. I think it's going to be a relatively high scoring affair.

W 34-31 Packers

I expect a win because we are at home and we are due and I think the packers will clean up their game and Rodgers is going to want this game badly and will lead this offense and raise the bar.

Yet their biggest strengths on offense are our biggest weaknesses.

Lynch vs our run defense. Graham vs our **** lbs.
Scrambling Wilson vs our **** lbs.

My hope is our pass rush is effective and we have a spy waiting for Wilson to scramble and if tries to run he gets hit a few times enough to make him stay in the pocket or get rid of it early.

But I think the game plan will be Rodgers must play MVP level and just outscore Seattle.

The only way we beat Seattle is turnovers. If we do not cause turnovers, we lose.

They will run Lynch all day and Wilson will throw off play action. The only way our defense stops them (IMHO) is we cause turnovers. I just don't see our tackling getting much better this week, especially against a physical team like Seattle and how they will run the football.

Well, St. Louis proved that Seattle is beatable, but I would guess they will be pressing pretty hard for this win. Couple that with our porous run defense and I'm a little worried.

I would've rather a game like this come after week 4. It always takes a few weeks into the season before we "solidify" our holes.

We can endure a poor defensive game against Chicago (less yards, massive time of possession differential), but will lose that game against Seattle. Hopefully Matthews and Palmer are better prepared this week than scrambling after Barrington went out.

After the Rams founds some holes in that D this week I hope MM can widen them. Watching Tavon Austin do whatever he wanted makes me want to get Montgomery more involved.

I don't love the matchup with their offense anymore. Since we last played them they've gained not one but two pro bowl TEs. Their only good WR is a slot guy and then obviously there's the ground threat of Lynch and Wilson. Its like they were designed to feast on the soft underbelly of the Packers defense. I hope our inside jag-backers are ready for a challenge. Having Burnett ready to go would be nice.
