Post Game Thread: GB Beats Miami 31-12

If AR is changing alot of runs to passes then MM needs to grow balls and tell him to frickin stop. It is ridiculous how Jones is under utilized.

I don't think it's AR I think 80% of those are plays called by MM.

This might not be a popular opinion but I think the work load is justified. He's listed at 207 and compared to Gurley (231), Chubb (227) or Conner (233) and its not like he has been the poster child of durability in the past. Even Gordon (215) who is the closest body type I can think of is about that 15 carry per game mark. Fresh legs matter and I question if he can take the pounding of getting 20 carries per game.

I agree 100%. To add to that if he gets hurt outside of Williams you have zero depth. You can rotate those two at 15 a piece and be fine. If MM runs the ball 30 a game no one here needs to bitch.

I'd want him at 20 total touches, runs and passes. He was at 18 this game, so almost there. He is built slight in the legs which may hinder him long term, though he probably has some room to develop his body still.

I watched the game later as I wasn't able to watch in real time. It's so hard to know what to take away from this game.

Jones is clearly a weapon but his past lack of durability and smaller size (he admits he's actually under 200#) might mean that 15 touches is probably not too far from what he can handle per game. I'm thinking you start pounding him more than 20 times a game and you might not have him by game 16.

Plus, running against Miami might not be the total measuring stick. Hopefully they'll be able to put up some yards on the ground the next 2 games, or things could get ugly and we'll likely be talking about a couple of losses.

Pass rush looked better but it was against one of the poorer lines in football right now. Not sure that production will translate to the next 2 games.

Is special teams really this bad. It didn't seem like they started the season too badly, but since the Detroit game they are a total mess. Is this what we have going forward or have they gotten the worst out of their system.

Even in a win yesterday, I never felt like we were a team on the verge of turning it around. They look like they just beat a team that was in slightly worse shape yesterday than we were. I still don't feel like we will beat either Seattle or Minny over the next 2 games. Lose those 2 and the playoffs just might be gone. The margin for error is razor thin at this point.

Despite Jones running for 145 and 2 TDS, I thought MM and AR still didn’t give him the ball enough. And they couldn’t turn that running production into an effective play action game. Strange.

from bleacher report: "It marked the first time Jones has carried the ball 15 times in a game since last October, despite the fact that among backs with at least 150 attempts since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, the 2017 fifth-round pick out of UTEP ranks first by a wide margin with a 6.1 yards-per-attempt average."

You know..............I'm really scratching my head regarding Cobb.

Still bothered by his hammy? sh))
Or, based on his comments last week ("this feels different"), has he decided to mail it in knowing he's likely not in line for another extension with GB at a price to his liking? nono)

Maybe this is the opportunity to shelve Cobb (who may be feigning injury to protect himself for FA?), and bring up Jake Kumerow and play him in the slot?

Spitballing here a little. hope( ggg(

Cobb was washed up last year. He's over the hill and washed up this year. Time to just IR him and move on. Big waste of money this year..
