Maybe the Packers should look outside football, at guys who kick soccer balls farther than a person can hit a golf ball? There are so many out there who are accurate, that it makes you wonder how many could be a potential kicker, and signing them to the practice squad is a good idea. In fact, we have a kicker on our practice squad now who fills that very role. A soccer type, who they're working with, to see if he can make the grade. Also, he counts as the International player, so we get that extra PS spot. If nothing else, I'd be heading around the world to soccer hot spots and holding auditions. You never know what will turn up.
I remember when Garo Ypremian showed up on the scene with that strange side-winder kick, and everyone laughed. He wasn't overly accurate, made about 2/3 of his kicks over the years with FGs, but the thing was, it was the beginning of what it is today. The next stop up is to convert players to footballs.
