Early deficit too much to overcome for Wisconsin men's hockey team

This team is built around people who want to take a lead role, and not enough players who are willing to fill in on a secondary level, to create the opportunities for stars. You need to have the continuity to be competitive.

But, TW.

Nobody thinks we have any stars - except the players themselves

Back in the 60s, I remember an interview Lloyd Pettit did with Bobby Hull. He asked Hull how he could be such a prolific scorer for his era. Pettit suggested it was his skating, and his shot. Hull immediately responded it was the guys who got him the puck when he was in position to get a shot off. None of what he did mattered, unless they did their job first.

I think that's something that every coach, and player, in every sport, needs to recognize, because it's truly the key to success.

After Hull made his statement, Pettit just smiled, and said he totally agreed, and they went on to talk about the talent surrounding him on the ice.
