The Badgers have their first men's basketball commitment for 2022 - Connor Essegian, a 6'4", 3-star shooting guard from Indiana. He also had serious interest from Wake Forest, Butler, Creighton, and Minnesota. Interesting that IU was not really in on him. Not sure why. Likely not enough of an "elite" player for that program.

Don't know anything more about him than what I've read in the usual places. Sounds like he can shoot the rock but needs some work in other areas. Some writers question his ability to defend at the level Gard and UW expect, but apparently the UW coaches are comfortable that he'll be able to handle himself on that end of the floor.

The Badgers have one more open scholarship for 2022.

Looks like his stock went up in the AAU circuit. Like you mentioned he can shoot. Maybe a Bohannon type and if that happens I won’t complain

Looks like they are keeping offer open for
Braden Huff, a 6-9 forward out of Illinois, he has offers from Gonzaga, Michigan State, Virginia Tech, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Creighton. I think he’s visiting UW and Gonzaga next week

Seems another kid that low most people's radar not recruited much and will need coaching up. The guy UW loves to get.

The kid was ranked #7 in Indiana so not sure how much under the radar he is. He’s not the type who who fit in programs that are more fast paced but he’s a good system fit like Bohannon or Brust were. His AAU coach :
“He is by far the best shooter in Indiana in the class,” Adams said. “Wisconsin is getting one of the best shooters in the country. He literally is one of the best shooters in the country.”

Had a discussion with a kid who chose to pass on offers from Kentucky, and Duke. Settled for an offer from one of the Southwestern schools. Won't name it. It wasn't because he liked the program better, but because he figured he'd end up sitting at the end of the bench at the two elite schools, but would get a shot at playing out West.

Sometimes the reality is that you want to play, hoping you'll get better, and have a possibility of reaching the next level.

If you look at his offers the systems were similar to UW like Butler and Wake. More half court oriented and not systems that play 90 feet for 40 minutes. It’s candidly why a player like Johnson went to Duke over UW.
