The Green Bay Packers will go north of the border to play the Oakland Raiders in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, at 7 p.m. (CDT) on Thursday, Aug. 22.
  • It will mark the third time that the Packers have played a preseason game outside the United States. On Aug. 16, 1997, Green Bay defeated the Buffalo Bills, 35-3, in Toronto, Canada, and on Aug. 2, 1998, the Packers beat the Kansas City Chiefs, 27-24, in overtime in Tokyo, Japan.
  • It is the first time Green Bay has played a neutral-site preseason game since facing the Kansas City Chiefs in the Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio, in 2003. The Packers were scheduled to play in the Hall of Fame game in 2016 against the Indianapolis Colts, but the game was canceled due to field conditions.
  • It will be the 12th time the Packers and Raiders have met in the preseason, including the fourth matchup in the past six years (2014, 2016 and 2018).
  • It is the first of two preseason games (Kansas City) where Green Bay faces a team it also plays in the regular season.
  • Green Bay will play both Oakland (Oct. 20) and Kansas City (Oct. 27) again during the regular season in back-to-back weeks.

IN THE PRESEASON
  • Head Coach Matt LaFleur became the seventh head coach in franchise history to win his first game as head coach of the Packers, joining Curly Lambeau, Phil Bengston, Bart Starr, Mike Holmgren, Ray Rhodes and Mike Sherman.
  • The 28 points put up by Green Bay vs. Houston were the third most by the team in the debut of a new Packers head coach behind 37 put up under Sherman in 2000 and 34 scored under Bengston in 1968.
  • Overall, Green Bay has won the first preseason game it has played for five straight years.
  • The Packers will close the preseason by hosting the Kansas City Chiefs at Lambeau Field on Thursday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m.
  • It is the second consecutive year the Packers play the Chiefs in the preseason finale and the eighth time since 2010.
  • The Packers have won eight consecutive preseason home games and 10 of the last 11 preseason contests played at Lambeau Field.

I wish I could get up for this game, being played in Canada, and all. But, I just can't. It's kind of like watching a bad cover band play the classics.

will be lucky if stadium is half filled. Raiders struggle to fill their own stadium they thought hey lets go some place they don't get the NFL we can make money on ticket sales. But they fail to see that no one anywhere cares about pre-season and on top of that charge more then what it takes to get into a regular season game at almost every stadium in the NFL so of course people will be like screw it I won't pay hundreds of dollars to go watch backups. Expect a lot of close ups of the field and not to many if any shots of fans in the stands as NFL won't want to show off a half empty stadium on TV.

Expect the NFL does not control ticket sales or set prices for this game. It was a Canadian promoter who bought rights to the game. Tickets have been reduced and sales are over 50% of capacity.Molson Coors is sponsoring the game so expect more than a few comp tickets

Do you "get up" for any of the preseason games? I don't care if it was played at a high school field here in Kalamazoo, MI, I don't think I'd get up for it. ;)

Actually, I'd like to see the real Packer offense on the field for at least a couple of series. That would make me take notice. I doubt it will happen. The Packers "preseason" for Rodgers will be the first four games of the regular season, regardless of what they say.

There are a few things I like watching this year, to get some indication where things are going. I'm anxious to see how the new group of players on defense fit the mold of Pettine's defense. I'm also curious about which WRs actually step up and fight their way onto the team. So, a few things, but not a lot.

That said, it wouldn't be the end of the world if I even missed a preseason game. But, a regular season game? Not a chance! Haven't missed one since I was in the military.

Before anyone says it, I'm not referring to Valley Forge with George! FP(

I'm with you except for the quoted part. No proven NFL starting QB plays in all 4 preseason games ever. It's typically been 2nd game a series or two and then a quarter in the 3rd game. Sometimes they may get a series in the 4th game. With joint practices this year I think Rodgers probably got more valuable time there than any preseason time he'll get. It's not worth the risk of injury to play him much.

Couldn't agree more on the field time they usually get in preseason. At this point, we have to wonder if Rodgers will even see the field during preseason. If he doesn't, with a new system, he's going to be doing catch-up in getting up to speed.

So I see Rodgers is officially questionable to play. I don't think you will ever see Rodgers play in a pre-season game again for career. 2 seasons in a row he sat out.
