Doom and gloom. That isn’t the mood for Packers fans to be in after a 6-0 start to the 2015 NFL season, but it seems to be for some. After all, what is there to be mad about? The defense came in ranked seventh in the NFL in total defense. While they were “bent” all game versus Rivers and the San Diego Chargers, they never broke. The offense struggled, for the most part, but with key players missing and guys coming in and out of the lineup, it’s almost to be expected. Right?

After what is considered to be another sub-par performance for the great Aaron Rodgers, but deemed a good game for most quarterbacks, some fans have lost sight of something that is truly remarkable. It’s the one number that sticks out in my mind the most after Sunday’s win against the San Diego Chargers. No, it’s not the 500 yards passing or 60 attempts by Rivers. It’s 3,652.

On Sunday evening, that was the number of career attempts it took Rodgers to become the fastest player to reach the 30,000-yard passing mark. Another record to add to his already stacked resume. It seems like this guy is breaking a record every weekend. This record is one of his greatest achievements to date. Let’s take about three seconds to consider what this record actually means and the company he beat to that mark.

3….2…1…

In the history of the game, only forty quarterbacks have ever eclipsed the 30,000-yard mark. Johnny Unitas, considered by many to be one of the greatest of all time, has been the fastest to 30,000 in a record that has stood for half a century.

Think of some of the names that have played the quarterback position since 1967, and Rodgers beat them all to the punch. Elway, Marino, Montana, Moon, Brady, Manning, Staubach, Aikman, Warner and Brees, just to name a few. He even beat the man whom he sat behind for the first three seasons of his career. Ladies and gentleman, what we are witnessing is greatness.

In the midst of achieving this incredible record, Aaron Rodgers was also busy breaking all kinds of other records as well. He not only owns the all-time record for passer rating in a regular season, he just recently snapped a two and half year streak of not throwing an interception at Lambeau Field. Let’s not even begin to discuss his touchdown to interception ratio. What this man has been able to do since 2008 is, in a word, remarkable.

As fans, it’s only natural to be left wanting more and more from Aaron Rodgers, but what more can he actually give to us? Sure, more Super Bowl championships would be great, that’s the ultimate goal for most players. Packers fans, join me and let’s all enjoy what this man has done for the game of football and the city of Green Bay. So, sit back and let this man do his work on Sundays, all while we wait for him to bring the Lombardi trophy back to its rightful home.
