Whitt on Packers' corners: 'It's difficult being around me. They don't like me right now'

Interesting article.

After reading it, I'm sure their meetings might be uncomfortable. He has a huge responsibility to grow these guys up.

I liked what he said about Shields. It sounds like Shields is going against his rather introverted personality and really helping out on the field.

yeah, that little blurb about shields taking a leadership role was great to read. not something i really expected because - as whitt said - shields is a quiet quiet guy. it's great to hear that he has a full understanding of the defense as feels confident enough to share his knowledge and understanding.

This quote really struck a nerve with me:

“This is a young group. It would be different if we had guys who have played the position multiple years in college but I have a basketball player who played one year, a baseball player who played another position and then some small-school guys. So we don’t have the luxury of guys who actually have a background in it."

Aside from a few games from Hayward, Witt has one guy (Shields) who has veteran experience in playing NFL boundary CB.

Heavy burden on Joe Witt this year.

I don't envy him but it sounds like he is up for the task and the rookies better get up for it as well.:D

Good to hear that Shields is taking a leadership role.

o_O Joe Whitt as hard a**?? don't envy the job he has to do. just hope he can put together a serviceable secondary this year.
