I’ve heard the Wisconsin football fan-bases cries for a change at quarterback, and while its understandable – it’s simply not happening, at least anytime soon. Identifying the Badgers deficiencies on offense isn’t a difficult task at the moment, because they’re plentiful. You could point to the blocking upfront, which has been uncharacteristically rough in the […]

As Mark as said UW really has no choice to stick with Mertz as bad as he's played there is nothing better to replace him with. Which shows the sad state of recurting.

Mertz is not a bad QB. The skills he showed against Illinois in his first game are still there. I'm concerned about how Chryst is coaching him up. I think that's the real point of failure.

People have to quit believing that Chryst is some kind of QB coaching genius, because I don't think that's even close to true. The fact that QBs in the system have made it in the NFL doesn't necessarily mean he's responsible for it, it could also mean that they made it despite his coaching, or from input that came elsewhere.

The issue is not PC as a QB coach. Right now it’s a very easy scape goat because of the other 3-4 issues on this team. Last season for Mertz and the pretty much the rest of college football should be looked at with a grain of salt. The only conference that had a “normal” year was the SEC. This is his “rookie” year in many ways.

I rewatched the game and pass pro was worse then I thought. Tippmann was like a turnstile and got beat multiple times. Chandler forgets to fair catch a punt and cost the team 25 yds of field position. And even with all of the issues it was a 13-10 lead in the 4th.

The schedule did Mertz and this team no favors opening with PSU and week 3 vs ND. But at least we did not lose to Bowling Green at home as 31 point favorites
