2024 Draft Thread

I don't see anything here that says he can't play NFL safety

I kinda hate 40 times for safeties because the two best ones from the last couple years were high 4.5. But 4.6 was surprising. He may be hurt and maybe he runs a little better at pro day and it’s all forgotten.

He plays like a talented S, do you play him deep middle though? I’m just thinking about what Hafley said in his presser.

I don't know a lot about a lot but DB and safeties I know, I coached and I played. He has enough burst to get the job done. He tackles to perfection... catches the ball with his hands which most safeties can not do. His intangibles in reading the QB are tops... also Haf stated he wants to play his guys close to the line of scrimmage, in that video look at his sacks including vs Maye a possible top 5 QB pick.

I didn't see another S with all of those qualities in one package anywhere else in the draft. Now if you want better speed but are willing to give up some tackling and savvy then Javon Bullard makes a ton of sense with pick 2 in round 2. tc(

The thing that makes Kinchens a possible great pick is that he knows how to play the game between his ears. He must be spending a lot of time going over game film of each opponent, because he's very seldom late in reacting to a play as it's developing on the field. This, to me, is what makes a great Safety, whether they have 4.40 or 4.70 speed. Those are close enough that they get you into the play the way you need to be involved.

Cerebral safeties and cornerbacks can make a game a lot easier on their team, and the defensive coaches. They're where they should be, and when they should be, not a fraction of a second late.

Safety is pretty much a guy who can't play CB because he's not fast enough. So I don't think we should expect to see a guy running in the 4.4's

The only first rounder taken by Gute with a RAS under 9 was Jordan Love. I dont see him bucking that trend this year. That said, last year they threw RAS out the window for Jayden Reed because they loved his film and they may well do the same this year for someone like Kinchens. I can see them taking him at 41, just not at 25.

Actually article I read here says lowest was Savage at a 8.3 in 1st round so Kinchens could be out at a RAS of 2 something

Rakestraw another guy who might be off the Packers board with a poor RAS.

yes i stand corrected, Savage was under 9 as well. But still, upper echelon guys athletically seems to be their thing in rd 1.
