Tom Brady suspended

It's in the CBA that Goodell has right to hear the case. Only if he would appoint another person can they hear it. If Brady and the Pats end up suing the NFL this will turn into a mess that could put the Pats on a island and pit Kraft against other owners.

Had the Pats I think just said yes we did this we did wrong and will accept a punishment all you would have seen was Brady fined the team fined and it would have been the end of it. But with them denying everything and trying to act like it never happened and refusing to cooperate it made the NFL come down on them.

We've already passed that line... Actually I think the Pats pretty much blew it up... They might as well go all the way, the damage has already been done. They'll be isolated for awhile... Probably till either Goodell is gone or Kraft sells the team.

The NFL needs to put a rule in that take effects right away that changes things so this can't happen in the future. If you don't make it that once teams turn over the balls to the ref for inspection and then the refs will keep the balls till the game you will have this be able to happen again.

One would think that was a given. That's what they did for the SB, it obviously didn't hurt the Pats at all....

Only ways this gets resolved quickly are:
1) Goodell reduces Brady's suspension
2) One of the equipment guys breaks ranks and changes his story
3) the NFL has some information the haven't released yet that is more conclusive that what's in the Wells report..

If league discipline can be resolved through back channel talks, there is something very wrong on both ends.

But I think Mark hit on it. NFL in no way wants this to get to court.

EDIT: After more thought though I'm not sure there is any backroom agreement, Kraft is a business man. And if he pressed this issue he'd essentially be attacking his own business interest. Have a feeling the other owners put some pressure on. He had never admitted wrongdoing, was successful in showing how weak the Wells report was, galvanized his fan base, and is gonna make millions off of it. It's a win for him already...

But like the much longer Wells report, closer inspection of the Goodell decision undermines the primary conclusion. And, as usual, the Achilles heel can be found in a footnote.
Specifically, it can be found at footnote 11 on page 12: “After the hearing and after the submission of post-hearing briefs, Mr. Brady’s certified agents offered to provide a spreadsheet that would identify all of the individuals with whom Mr. Brady had exchanged text messages during [the relevant time] period; the agents suggested that the League could contact those individuals and request production of any relevant text messages that they retained. Aside from the fact that, under Article 46, Section 2(f) of the CBA, such information could and should have been provided long before the hearing, the approach suggested in the agents’ letter — which would require tracking down numerous individuals and seeking consent from each to retrieve from their cellphones detailed information about their text message communications during the relevant period — is simply not practical.”

pop( In other words we're going to ignore evidence that would help Brady because we're lazy ..... rofl(
