Amazon Prime and NFL Thursday Night Football

I'm anxious to see what kind of numbers they end up getting, considering it's a game on Amazon Prime, not a major network.

Since I have Prime, and use it all the time for buying and entertainment, I don't mind at all. For those without Prime, who might be interested in the game? I don't see it happening to be honest. It might drive some people to buy into Prime, but I have no idea how many.

I cant wait for Pack to give us the overnight ratings. It's going to be a telling story.

Wild guess….probably 8m.

What’s interesting is Nielsen also counts local affiliates who will carry the game, in this case KC and LA. That’s an old NFL rule for in market team. Amazon is estimating 12m.

Yeah heard that GB is a strange team that when it comes to home team markets that GB and MKE are both considered home markets for GB so they will always be on station in those cities. Most teams just have their home city as their TV market.
 
Since they used to play 3 regular season games in MKE I guess that kind of makes sense

Won’t be tomorrow…this from Nielsen

“As with the first preseason Amazon NFL TNF game on 8/25/22, Nielsen will be conducting additional reviews for the first regular season Amazon TNF game on 9/15/22.”

Understandable. This is a major test if they’re new ratings streaming data. I do know they have “guaranteed” 12.5m to some advertisers but how the hell they give make goods or underdelivery credits is beyond me.

It's interesting that they gave that guarantee. I'd imagine it's going to be rebates on a graduated scale, if they don't hit that figure.

Even more interesting is the fact that they actually believe that figure is possible. The Chiefs vs Chargers doesn't sound like the type of match up that would lend to higher numbers, but what do I know. The Chiefs? Big draw. Chargers? Meh!

The issue is Amazon does not “sell” as inventory other than football so it would have to be a credit which for a media agency is not optimal when you’re trying to guarantee impressions. My only guess is they would give make goods vs future football inventory and I would not trust that to happen
 
I thought it was a great broadcast. Good choice of announcers. Loved the multiple camera angles. The tags for players is awesome. You can pick out a guy to follow if you choose. The picture quality, on my TV was amazing.

For a Prime member, a great experience, in my opinion. And the game was a perfect match for their first.
 
Should see numbers tomorrow. But there is this …
Amazon exec Jay Marine internal email: "Our measurement shows that the audience numbers exceeded all of our expectations for viewership."
