In a word yes…

IMHO this is all just Murphy trying to kick the can down the road far enough so that he will be gone when it all blows up and he won’t have to deal with it.

That’s the way it is right now, that he’s not coming back. They’re disgusted with him and they’re done with him and they’re moving on. This is going to involve money and a trade partner and all kinds of things. But I’m totally convinced he is not going to be their starting quarterback this year. On the other hand, they love Jordan Love. They think he’s the second coming now. They’ve seen enough in practice for three years, that they believe he is like Rodgers 2.0. And McGinn is a bigger and more useless hack of a journalist than Nagler or Bayless. He is guessing hust like all the others, nothing more.

Jones original deal was really a 2 year deal as this year had a high cap number built into it so when he signed his 4 year ext he was going to have to redo it or get cut no matter what.

Sounds like his ‘23 cap hit won’t be going down much unless there is more to this.

I wonder if this makes him more or less likely to be around in ‘24.

He also had a $7 million and change roster bonus due. So he was due to make $15-16 million in cash this year with a $20 million cap number. He's now going to be closer to a $10-11 million cap number for this year if I figured right.

Thing is is they were so done with him they should have never caved in and gave the cap killer contract they did to him last year. He would have been coming off a MVP season and the Packers probably could have traded him for what Seattle got for Russell Wilson. Not wanting to move him when taking a huge cap hit and getting less is like pissing in your ceral and that deciding to eat it.
 
It's very possible the Packers are going to tell Rodgers that they're going to look at Love as the starter in camp. They might throw that out there, to get him into camp, or make the decision he wants out, and will accept a favorable trade in his eyes, or retire.

That would be their way of saying it was his decision.
 
I really hope that McGinn is right !
