2023 Draft Thread

Biggest miss was Josh Myers over Creed Humphrey. Creed was a 99th percentile guy in RAS, and for some reason GB chose Myers over him. IMO the biggest miss of Gute's tenure as a GM.

I agree that RAS isn't the only thing to look at but it's a risk. If he's Minkah Fitzpatrick then that's a boon for the D. If he's not, he might as well be Rudy Ford.
GB choose Myers because he has the ability to play guard as well as center. Humphrey is a pure center. GB going back to Ted has had it in their mind any OL they draft has to have the ability to play more than one OL spot.

I wonder if Myers would be better as a guard. Gute said I think at the year end presser that they originally thought Zach Tom's best position might be center and they were surprised he held up as well as he did at tackle.

I'm sure that's why they did it, but that's just not smart. Humphrey was a better center and a better athlete. Who would they rather have now, a mediocre center who can play guard in a pinch, or an all-pro center.

I heard that as well, and if they draft an OT this year I would not be surprised if Tom is moved to OC to see if he can be a starter there. Maybe Myers would be better at OG and maybe he can replace Runyan, but I'm not holding my breath.

The Packers were awarded two comp picks. They got a 5th round pick 170th overall and a 7th round pick 256th overall.

Packers have 10 draft picks right now including 4 7th round picks.

Ted Thompson would be drooling over having that many 7th rounders saying look at all the UDFA's I can add!

I proposed this trade in the "AR prediction thread" so figured I'd take it for a test drive on PFF. I increased the randomness setting a couple of notches because to me the draft is far more random than the PFF big board rankings would indicate. I also did a trade down in Rd1 because the best fit was Smith-Njogba at #13 and I didn't really like him that high. He was still there at #16 so I figured WTH, he's the highest rated guy there, so I got him at #16. After that I just kept looking got high value picks except for Kuntz, who I reached for because I was running out of TE options. I highly doubt most of these players will be available at those spots and these aren't all guys I like, but hell it got a good grade.
