Packers 2025-26 Season Thread

Mark: We haven't had the depth you desire or apparently anybody in the front office that can evaluate talent the way you'd like since Old Wolf [although I did like Ted Thompson until the last few years when he delegated too much - I think he was really good at evaluating talent, ability and desire. Unfortunately, it appeared health issues took over and he should have been promoted to something more like team Ambassador of greatness or something. But then really, look who took over for him so why not let him pick].

The QB Thing with Tune? If Mark is right and the kid can't read defenses, why would we get rid of Clifton? Isn't he on an affordable rookie contract? Why not use the kid from Canada? Yes, Tune is third string, but if you've got a guy who knows the system, knows the team, likes and is liked by the team, why the hell would you get rid of him for some guy who's short of a QBs most important skill. Dumb. See my last statement!

This Cowboy Guy - I cannot remember his name and not going to look it up. I don't care. I said earlier he makes some great plays. But, he's often off with Elvis. HE'S NOT REGGIE WHITE. There are no Reggie Whites out there. Please please please do not give up anything for this Cowboy Guy. If he comes to Green Bay he'll turn into just a little bit better than Gary. [Yes, he's going to stay with the Cowboys or go somewhere and make great plays and everybody will say we should have made the move. BUT, I think he's piss poor against the run which is what teams do to us - run our ass over, so how is he going to help us. We'll wish we had him for 20 plays this season. We won't notice him for the rest. [BUT THEN AGAIN, we draft like cow manure, so why not.]

I do not like the job Gute is doing. I think he takes big swings at the draft and free agent table bringing in people who may have potential hoping that somehow they miraculously turn it on / around / grow a pair and turn into a great / fantastic player so he can say, "See, nobody else recognized his potential but me, and look at him now, I'm great." I wish he'd draft more 'sure things.' AND ON THE OFFENSIVE LINE, I wish he'd draft:

  • Big nasty fast guards to play guard for the Packers
  • Big nasty and smart centers to play center for the Packers
  • Big smart and fast tackles to play tackle for the Packers
  • And, after he has a 7-8 offensive lineman - he can get his jollies drafting the Swiss Army Knife Offensive Lineman.
His drafting tackles to play guard, guard's to play tackle, somebody to play center because they can play more than one position - Swiss Army Knife - is what is giving us a second rate offensive line. Our guys have some talent, they can play multiple positions. But most would not start anywhere else and that's saying something. I'm more protective of my Double Double than Gute is of his Quarterback.

Talk about an incredible non beer fueled rant! Go Pack! Damn Gute!!

I like the trade. Russ Ball will have to work overtime in the future because the cap now is screwed and you will have to let guys who are hitting FA in the next year or two go because you won't be able to resign them. GB is going to have to add even more draft picks and UDFA now to fill out the roster.
