2026 NFL Season Thread

Honestly, I think Sorsby has a good lawsuit vs the NFL/CFL. He already served time and did rehab; it's double jeopardy. He should sue the Big 12/10 and SEC as well as all the schools that talked crap.
These high and mighty holy than thou talking like it's sooo awful...when they all have players that have done far worse than bet on games.
The legal precedent needs to be set that you can promote gambling or you can ban gamblers, but you can't do both.

agree and trying to scapegoat him isn't helping their cause at all IMHO. Not saying what he did was right, but it sure seems like he's being unfairly persecuted
SiriusXM hosts acting like Sorsby deserved it and acting like he did something bad integrity of the game and ignored the NFL sponsorship with many gambling businesses.

I think Sorsby can cry all he wants.

It sounds hypocritical for the NFL to be in  bed with gambling, but it isn't. The gambling relationship is about taking money from us saps to line their coffers.

There is a difference between NFL Personnel and other people gambling on games. NFL Personnel cannot partake for good gosh darn reasons.

It may look collective, but it's not. I wouldn't need to talk to anybody about not signing somebody who is gambling on the games. I doubt other owners talked.

And, the NFL does not have to do a supplemental draft because he chased college NIL money and lost it because of his own damn choices.

This isn't George screwing the cleaning lady and not understanding it was bad.

This kid knew and made the choice to gamble. He wasn't forced into it. He did it.

If he has the skill and toughness, he'll take this year off, work hard, and get drafted next year.

But, I'm on the other side. Neither, the NFL or the CFL, owe him shit

Sorry that's old school bs, no longer applies in the world we live in both in legal terms or what sports has become. You can hate it but it's not going back...ever.

Respectfully, disagreeing.

There is a huge difference between you and I gambling and a NFL Person gambling. (Look at the terms of your stock ownership Packers stock owners. You're held to the sane standard as an owner, i.e. if you're caught gambling, your stock can be taken away.)

Old School isn't the BS here. The BS is on Sorsby

I'm with Keg here.
But I want to add a bit of a twist . . . is the NFL itself really promoting gambling, or are they allowing it by letting the networks to promote it on an daily/hourly basis? They do allow the teams to get sponsorships with gambling ties - but technically they're not "promoting gambling".
The NBA has had quite a few issues with players "tanking" for the gamblers - and the NFL wants to make sure they take as hard of a stance as possible to try to not let that happen in the NFL.
