Man I would hate to see a 7-9 season around here
In isolation, most of us would, ESPECIALLY with and All-World QB. However, if it was the required wakeup call for management, so be it.
The 2 gms mentioned above have how many more SB wins then TT??? They don't.
No, but they only have one less, and they don't have an All-World QB. Whether or no TT was lucky or brilliant is (constantly) debatable, but the fact is that the Pack has AR, and nobody else does. So while they are being mentioned as building this great Ds, they still are not raking in the world titles either. Schneider is 9-5 in the playoffs. His o line is laughable. Dorsey was a whooping 1-3 in the playoffs. His wr group has be a joke his whole time there. Didn't they go a calendar year without a td by a wr. So while these teams put together solid Ds, they also have been struggling in other areas. I would not trade our packer roster for either of those teams.
In keeping with the theme, allow me to keep AR, and I'd have to seriously think about it.
My point is that every GM and coaching staff, outside of NE, has warts. Yea I hate the fact that our D crapped the bed over the past 7 years. I also am baffled that capers is still here. The loyalty to him is insane. If you want to go real deep, one of my biggest beefs with the packers brass is the strength and cond group. The packers are 15 years behind the curve here. Injuries have been a major downfall to our success and imo this starts with the S&C program.
A paragraph with which I find nothing to argue.
Some of these playoff loses are not on TT and MM. If we are being fair and taking the blinders off, AR sucked in the 2011 loss. HE was more to blame then the GM and coach.
Not his finest hour, certainly. But many of us shook our heads that year, just waiting for the one time that the offense slowed, knowing that they'd be in deep doo-doo. Not having a D that could pick them up was whose fault? That horror show that happened in Sea was on players again. AR wasn't great, Burney and Pep not going for the kill shot and the botched onside kick were player mistakes. We man handled that sea team until the last 4 min. IF one guy makes a play we win that game and a hot packer team would have given the pats everything they would have wanted and more.
Accountability. In most other organizations, who suffers in those circumstances - the guy at the top. Navy ships are involved in accidents, and the fleet commander is relieved. A company misses it's goals, the CEO is fired. The Packers commit a dozen bone-headed mistakes, and it's business as usual.
With the knocks on Ted I do think he has done some good and to not see that is short sighted. He has been more aggressive this year. Every other year ppl bitch that he sits on his hands and doesn't make roster moves. This year he did and it gets brushed off.
On the contrary, as noted above, the point is that he made a few non-TT-like moves and the fans go wild. We kept some key players, signed a top TE. The DL has the talent to be really good. We have 4 Safeties that can start in this league. He acknowledge our OLBer group needed work and went out and grabbed 2 guys to push the weak link Fack to a bubble player. Its on Dom to get the most out of this group.
I feel you fellas on the let downs in the playoffs. I want titles as much as anyone, but everything needs to fall into place for that to happen. We could be in a worse situation. The talk of all other teams would have made moves is incorrect also. Look at Cincy and Balt. they both have long tenured coaches and GMs that have been less successful than us. The steelers haven't won a sb since 08, they still have the same HC and owners.
Are you trying to prove our point?
Lets not forget the pats went 10 years between SB wins. (sure they made the dance but if we are going with the winning is everything then who cares)
Give me three SB wins in four years, then throw in a couple of more a decade later, and I might be inclined to give TT/MM the long leash they've had for their one.
Winning a title this year will ease a lot of bad feelings.
Again, no question about it. A lot of us are just tired of saying that since 2010. Rodgers needs another title or 2. After we throttle the hawks and that hs o line of theirs we can all sleep good sunday night
