Rodgers Wants Out

I still think it's a strange idea that Aaron Rodgers, notoriously one of the most prickly, inflexible, demanding SOBs to ever play QB, about whom there is an annual conversation about needing to build years worth of trust with his OL and skill position players, is going to jump to an organization he's never played for with players he's never played with, a new(ish) system, new coaches, new lingo and have immediate success. He is NOT Brady. Brady is demanding and a maniac when it comes to preparation and self-care, but on the field he will throw to the open guy and Brady will run the play that's called. He's not Brett "Nickel? Dime? Who gives a sh!t" Favre, who would also throw to whoever you put out there.
That has been raised that how long would it take for Rodgers to learn a new system and build trust with his new WR's. Would Rodgers do what Tonyan has said happened just pull plays out of his butt that were used years ago and players have no idea what he's doing instead of following the game plan?

In a very strange way, he will be motivated to prove that he was right and the smartest guy in the room. Will it work and payoff who knows. And I know it’s not going to be a popular take but an “older” more “established HC” might bring him down to earth a bit. As much as he publicly seems to like ML, I’ve always wondered does his mind say “dude is my age I know more than him”.

Don't get any older the Fangio LOL. Though thing with Fangio he's a defense guy. So getting Rodgers would he tell the OC to run the offense around Rodgers and pretty much let Rodgers do his own thing.

Well Shurmur is not some kid either. Not run heavy, multiple WR sets so there’s that

Very good point Pack. I have often wondered that too and I think it's plausible. I know it's just me, but something just seems a bit off, either in ML's voice or AR's voice when they start discussing each other. Like I said, it's just a feeling. I also think it has to be tough for ML because he is a young coach, trying to make his way and put his stamp on his system, and he has to handle a future HOFer who is his contemporary.

Ron Wolf weighs in:

“It appears that today’s quarterbacks want to be more than quarterbacks,” Wolf said. “They’re hired to play the position quarterback. That’s what they’re being paid for, and that’s what they’re being paid to do. These guys, they want to pick the coach, pick the players. It’s an interesting dilemma.”

reading that headline, nobody would ever guess that wolf never mentioned aaron rodgers. not to mention the guy is 82 years old and completely out of touch.

Yeah, I would have to hear the original interview but I guess he was talking about Wilson, Watson and Rodgers. Take it for what it's worth.

“All three of these guys have signed long-term contracts and they’re under contract,” Wolf said. “So I’m sure at that time there wasn’t any holding a gun to their head saying you have to sign but now they’re not happy. They’re not happy with the team they signed a contract with.”

i can almost see him shaking his cane at the reporter, saying "back in my day . . . " followed by a quick "and get off my lawn".
