Rodgers Wants Out

Yes Rodgers is also 38 and even if he tells a new team yeah I want to play 4-5 more years can you count on him not to change his mind 2 years in? Teams have to be careful on how much they pay for a guy like Rodgers who you have no idea how long he does stay.
The front office that brought Rodgers in would be looking at immediate success. Not necessarily a SB trip but at least to the league championship. Of course, they'd view it for the second year.

It would be a gamble, but a way that a GM who's on thin ice could save his job, and that of the HC.

It worked for Tampa Bay, but it isn't always the case. We have no idea how any trade would work out with Rodgers until after he has a body of work with another franchise.

I think compensation is green and gold glasses. An aging QB with a big cap number = small market. His value is never higher than it is now. And no, cap space is not = to compensation
The thing is with his value maxing this off-season does it make any sense just to hold onto him just to try to make one more run and because you feel Love is not ready and want to try in 2022. Why take less in a trade just to do that? Take your lumps in 2021 and get max value.

Thing with TB Brady was a FA you were just paying him cash to cash a ring. With Rodgers not only are you likely giving him a new contract you also are giving away future draft capital to go for it. It pans out great you are a GOAT but you don't get to the SB you are THE goat.

It makes sense if you have an engaged Rodgers buying into the program. I know It’s not a popular take but the distraction is worse than the alternative and if you don’t win a ring and his value decreases you just cost the franchise some valuable assets.

This is not fantasy football and while you want to get max value back you need to understand the market

I think immediate success is the objective. Who knows when his skill level declines. It’s win now if you trade for him and don’t worry about years 2-3-4

Even worse if you give Rodgers what he wants which is a comittment of 2-3 more years with a raise in pay and you don't win the SB then you wasted money and passed on getting picks.

Well how the roster is set up with massive roster bonuses and cap hits 2021 seems like this was going to be the all in year with seeing lots of players released to clear cap space and then start 2022 as the Love era.

I still think it's a strange idea that Aaron Rodgers, notoriously one of the most prickly, inflexible, demanding SOBs to ever play QB, about whom there is an annual conversation about needing to build years worth of trust with his OL and skill position players, is going to jump to an organization he's never played for with players he's never played with, a new(ish) system, new coaches, new lingo and have immediate success. He is NOT Brady. Brady is demanding and a maniac when it comes to preparation and self-care, but on the field he will throw to the open guy and Brady will run the play that's called. He's not Brett "Nickel? Dime? Who gives a sh!t" Favre, who would also throw to whoever you put out there.

I hate the “all in” narrative but i believe the “timeline” was 2021 being the last dance for awhile now
