Rodgers Wants Out

I have always thought the “retire but not sign the papers” option was alive and well. Fits the David Dunn / Carson Palmer playbook
Have to think age plays in though. Palmer was 31 when he made that move, Rodgers is 37. Big difference.

Thats valid yes but its really the only card he can play that gives him some room

If he wants to go that far. IMO still remains to be seen just how much he wants out. There won't be an opportunity to show that until camp so we will see.

Yeah its the big unknown. I am still in the week 1-2 regular season camp and I actually think that GB is fine with that, more evaluation on Love and more reps. Risk / reward for Rodgers, Love looks competent, GB can tighten the noose, if Love is looking like Rich Campbell, leverage moves

The talk about how he prioritizes football or doesn't, I don't know if that's quite it. I think it means a lot to him when it's time to play, but he can drop it when it isn't. (Compare to a guy like Brady who is 24/7/365 football and training). And call me a softy, but I still think running out of that tunnel at Lambeau in front of 70k fans means something to him. Ya know, he didn't have it last year and I just think stuff like that is still enjoyable enough to him where he isn't willing to walk away completely from it. My 2 cents.

He’s a complicated fella. I remember a conversation I had at a charity event years ago with Dan Marino. I brought up how seeing him take over a game with 2 minutes left. He said and I paraphrase a bit “the games are ok, it’s part of the business but when I can win a game with 2 minutes left that’s “f ing fun”. It’s depends what drives you

I think we got a glimpse of what drives him last year, he wanted the “roll out the barrels” played and the fans involved to your point. But on the flip side he despises the business of football. So for Rodgers what is it? Does the fun of game day outweigh is distain for the business?

Great anecdote, almost every QB has commented on how it all gets boring and routine after a while, especially the practice elements which is why it's no surprise he sat out all of camp.

Anyway, your last sentence is the question, and I think we won't have a real answer until we look back in retrospect.

I question though with new CBA if he can do that I think team would be allowed to come after his money

He would most likely get out in the "did not report" list which would allow them to. Would they? don't know

Or does he not care about fun and just wants to treat it like a business and want a say in how it's run
