Rodgers Wants Out

Rodgers has not opted out of the season yet has he? I think we have a few more hours to count down,

It’s been more than 6-12 months i believe. It’s been more like 2 years.
I just think his plans and future has really changed more in last year now with getting married and starting family his timeline to want to leave the NFL is pushed up.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported the update on Get Up, also noting it's unlikely Rodgers will utilize the league's COVID-19 opt-out before Friday's deadline:

"I checked in with people around the league this morning. The feeling is that Aaron Rodgers probably won't opt out, but he got that $6.8 million roster bonus in March, so even if that's paid out in installments, he still has it. Maybe that's enough for him to say I'm going to limit the Packers' options and sit out and make that clear.

"Now, I talked to a source who said, 'look, he's the most competitive person in the world, opting out and killing his season right now on July 2 would be difficult for him to do.' Greeny, I've also checked in with multiple teams around the league who are monitoring the Aaron Rodgers trade situation. They said there is no trade market for Rodgers right now.
"

he might retire then unretire but I doubt he takes the opt out.

he's very cold and calculated. i think those are right who say he shows up week 1 or 2. he's going to let GB flap in the breeze and freak out when Love goes down in flames, then ride in like a hero to save the day. feeds his ego and shows that GB was wrong for moving up to draft Love.

So what happens when Love plays well in pre-season goes 2-0 to start the year and people are like Rodgers who? :)

Fowlers comments leave a lot to interpretation. And from my understanding that roster bonus is tied into base salary payment also, Brandt has opined on that

I have always thought the “retire but not sign the papers” option was alive and well. Fits the David Dunn / Carson Palmer playbook
