Well GB did make Rodgers a offer to make him the highest paid player in NFL for 2021That’s $200m. The math and potential dead cap does not work

Good post. Where we disagree a bit is don’t think WR would have been the missing piece to draft. More so defense but that’s splitting some hairs. Again I was ok with a QB in round 1. My issue was the trade up and whosome validity to what you've said. but in the two seasons played leading up to the draft of love, rodgers threw for 8,444 yards, 51 tds and 6 interceptions. he led the league in lowest interception % both seasons. his completion ratio was down a bit, but you have to remember who his receivers were. his second leading receiver for those two years was a 5th round rookie that many people on this site seem to despise for his unreliable route running and numerous drops. of course rodgers completion rate was going to suffer a little. i don't think there was any indication that rodgers was going to need to be replaced soon. i do think there was every indication that the packers needed a better #2 receiver though.
anyway, you and i are just repeating the same old arguments that have been made since the beginning of the thread. i get what you are saying and i hope you can see where i'm coming from. i'll be glad when this whole saga comes to an end - one way or another. i do think rodgers could come back and play one more year. i doubt very much that it would be another mvp season. it is rare that the same player gets the mvp award two seasons in a row. but hopefully he will play at a high enough level that the packers will have multiple trade partners to choose from.
Not convinced that ever happenedWell GB did make Rodgers a offer to make him the highest paid player in NFL for 2021
I think it did. I think they tried to placate Rodgers with money and it did not work. Not convinced that ever happened
That would have required them to increase his AAV by $23m. Math. The only way it would have been remotely close would be a multi year extensionI think it did. I think they tried to placate Rodgers with money and it did not work.
They probably add void yearsThat would have required them to increase his AAV by $23m. Math. The only way it would have been remotely close would be a multi year extension
that report was never confirmed by either party.Well GB did make Rodgers a offer to make him the highest paid player in NFL for 2021
The panic was the trade up not the pickI still think Love pick was a panic reaction pick. Packers were wanting by report Ayiuk. 49ers moved up to get him and I think Gute paniced and made the pick in a rush.
No. That would have required some guaranteed $$ past year 3. You need to get to $46m avg and that’s not happening and if they did that’s also gives into his timeline narrative. It was never offeredThey probably add void years
