Our View: What is the one consistent knock on the Wisconsin Badgers? A lack of top-quality athletes usually comes up most. If that’s a problem, look to Cephus to be a great answer to those claims. He was all set to play basketball at Furman before the Badgers swooped in and offered him on the football field.

Other schools like Georgia and Miami (FL) came sniffing around at different times in this recruitment, but Cephus stood by the school that saw him as a Power 5 football player first — Wisconsin.

Now, the task is going to be taking that raw athleticism and molding Cephus in to a true wide receiver. He’s got amazing hands and great vision for the football, but the film also shows us that he still has a way to go as a route runner and a run blocker. Simply put, if you can’t block as a wide receiver, you aren’t getting on the field at Wisconsin.

With that in mind, look for the Badgers to work him as a long-term project, but one worth all the wait should everything click.
