Practice Starts at: 10:10 AM CT

General:

  • No pads today
  • Light day today. There will probably be fewer updates than usual.
Not Practicing: Marcedes Lewis (Vet Rest)

Injuries: OT David Bakhtiari (PUP ACL), TE Josiah Deguara (PUP ACL), TE Dominique Dafney (PUP Knee), RB Patrick Taylor (PUP Foot), LB Ray Wilborn (COVID), S Henry Black (NFI), DT Kingsley Keke (NFI), CB Kevin King (NFI), OLB Za'Darius Smith (NFI), CB Will Redmond (NFI), LB Isaiah McDuffie(NFI)

Offense:

  • TE Isaac Nauta and G Simon Stepaniak are possibly not practicing today.
  • Same OL today. Jenkins - Runyan - Myers - Patrick - Turner.
  • Cobb participating in team portions today.
  • MVS with a nice misdirection toss to the outside. Amos did a nice job of getting around a Sternberger block to force him out. Had big play potential.
  • Royce Newman once again showing off his great first step off the line. Able to seal Jack Heflin and open a hole for Dexter Williams who is having a very nice start to camp.
  • Rodgers over the middle complete to Sternberger. Sternberger’s overall game still needs work but he can still get open and has some juice after the catch.
  • Rodgers deep to Adams who adjusts perfectly with Josh Jackson lost in coverage. Adams is so damn smooth. The game is so slow to him. He knew exactly when to adjust and Jackson had no chance. - Either Adams had two very similar plays in quick concession or the reporters are extremely confused if it was Jackson or Stokes in coverage.
  • Billy Turner at LT and Dennis Kelly at RT with the ones right now. Braden at RG.
  • Jordan Love keeps attacking the middle of the field. Hit Sternberger for a decent gain earlier, now tries to squeeze one in to a deep crosser and almost gets picked.
  • Love rifles behind DeAndre Thompkins but it was in a catchable spot in the end zone. Thompkins couldn’t hold on.
  • Rodgers hits Tonyan for TD.
  • Rodgers to Rodgers for a TD on a crossing route. Rookie’s had a solid start to camp.
  • Gary having no luck against Elgton Jenkins on the left side. Few have so far this camp.
  • Rodgers finds Adams on a fade in red zone with Stokes in coverage. Adams is just on another level. He and Cobb share a gentleman’s handshake in celebration. Welcome to the NFL moment for Stokes.
  • Rodgers to Sternberger, TD. That's four straight 1st team touchdowns in red zone period.
  • Jordan Love getting a few reps with first team in a walk through at end of practice. He’s taken almost exclusively second-team reps behind Aaron Rodgers through camp’s first three days.
Defense:

  • Alexander with absolute blanket coverage on Adams on a double move. Nowhere for Rodgers to go. Alexander vs. Adams is must see every day.
  • Toss to Winfree - Garvin and Kamal Martin all over it for a loss in the backfield.
  • Jaire Alexander dropped out of drills and went inside. Didn’t seem serious.
  • Sullivan with a great play to get off a Cobb block to make a quick stop of Adams on a WR screen.
  • Rodgers to Rodgers on a quick-hitter over the middle. Good luck defending that… But then Summers punched it out.
Special Teams:

  • Ryan Winslow, from the 40, kicks it 59 yards and 1 yard from sideline.
  • The Packers’ first two punt returners are Amari Rodgers and Randall Cobb.
Media:

  • Bakh gets Rodgers a gift. Video

Practice has ended at: 11:45 AM CT

Next event is: Training Camp | July 31st 10:10 AM CT

Press Conference Notes:

Matt LaFleur
Presser

  • “Our practice is going to be a lot lighter today. Third day in a row. It feels so different than a year ago." ... "Will crank up the intensity level tomorrow."
  • "It goes without saying, but LaFleur says Jordan Love, "will get a majority of the preseason reps."
  • LaFleur says it isn't Aaron Rodgers' job to mentor Jordan Love, but he's great with Love anyway. He says that hasn't changed since return: "He's been outstanding in every aspect of the team in terms of in the meeting room, on the field and just doing his part as a great leader."
  • Molson took all the field goals yesterday; LaFleur said he will rotate the kickers by day.
  • LaFleur says they’re counting Aaron Rodgers’ exact number of reps every day in order to avoid arm burnout with only 3 QBs
  • “There’s nothing Ja can’t do.” MLF on Alexander “He’s just a great player. He’s got great movement skills, he’s got great instincts.”
  • Cobb is putting in extra time to get up to speed, LaFleur says. Got here early today work with WRs coach Jason Vrable, Plus, all the installs are on video so Cobb can watch when he's not here.
  • LaFleur on early impressions of Eric Stokes: "He's got some of the things you can't teach. He has great speed and change-of-direction."
  • LaFleur says “we’d like to be better, but I think we’ve made a lot of progress” regarding team vaccinations. As of yesterday, the team has not reached the 85% threshold.
Darnell Savage Presser

  • Darnell Savage Jr. says there's "a chip on our shoulder" in the secondary with how last season ended vs. Bucs in NFC championship game. Not the way this DB group wanted to go out. "It's one of those things that's just understood."
  • Savage said in the Barry scheme, the change isn't as much in scheme but in the way the players can communicate and make sure motions and shifts don't cause confusion.
  • Savage says Jaire elevates everyone else in the DB’s room with his play.
  • Asked what's the most impressive thing he sees Jaire Alexander do: "You've got some guys who are just naturally born to cover, and are just good at it. He's one of those guys." He says Alexander mastering off coverage, in addition to sticky man, took him to next level.

Alexander is knocking on the door of a huge payday. He has another all-pro year there is no way GB won't be able to have him become the highest paid CB in NFL history.
