Yup!Someone on twitter commented that signing Jamon Dumas-Johnson and Stackhouse makes it feel like the Packers had 10 draft picks instead of 8, sounds about right
From what I’m reading of Oliver, he’s a situational edge rusher only and it kinda seems a mistake to try to force him to play as an off ball LB. He probably would’ve gone higher if he played more than 2 games last year. That’s to say, getting an actual off ball LB who can play that position for depth if nothing else was pretty important.Yup!
Dumas-Johnson was showing up regularly in Rds 5-6 in mock simulators. He probably puts an Isaiah Simmons signing on hold especially if they think Collin Oliver can eventually help fill in as LB depth.
Stackhouse was more typically a 6th-7th Rd guy. Combined with the Brinson selection, they have filled the Slaton spot and put Brooks and Wooden on notice.
A couple of really solid UDFA gets, both of which are solid options to make the roster.
Reports out over a dozen teams invited him to attend rookie minicamp.Canadian QB Taylor Elgersma invited to rookie mini-camps with Green Bay Packers, Buffalo Bills
Control the line!he's a tough SOB.... tough vs the run but he'll give centers a fit vs the pass. Can two gap all day..you can fill with his rotational player at UGA that was drafted. Perfect storm
Agree that situational pass rusher is most likely Oliver's role, but the team seems to hint at possibly using him off-ball. I don't know if he was any good at it, but he played about 500 snaps in college at off-ball LB. Dumas-Johnson is certainly the bigger get at the position. From what I’m reading of Oliver, he’s a situational edge rusher only and it kinda seems a mistake to try to force him to play as an off ball LB.
