The league's anti trust exemption is based on their product being widely available for free over public airwaves. If it's going to creep towards a paywall service then the government is going to ask questions. This would be bad for the league and bad for the Packers, as the anti trust exemption allows collective bargaining for media rights with league wide equal revenue sharing.the nfl does have a legitimate point when they say that they are the most fan-friendly of the professional sports. 87% of all nfl games are available on free tv. and if you live in the broadcast area of the two teams that are competing, you are guaranteed free coverage on broadcast tv. the problem comes when you are a fan of a team that is located outside of your area - like me. then you are only going to see a handful of games that are nationally televised on broadcast tv. if you want to see more, you almost have to pay for some sort of streaming service.
