Badger Men's BB Thread 2026

Greg Gard and the Badgers have gotten a new commit for '26. Melbourne Phoenix point guard Owen Foxwell has committed to Wisconsin. The 6'2" guard will be a 23 year old freshman having played professionally in Australia the past 5 seasons. He averaged 11.1 PPG, 3.0 RPG and 4.5 APG this season. Was previously committed to LSU.

Seems like a pass first PG, but not a great athlete unfortunately. NIL has certainly changed the landscape when a 5th year pro opts to enter college.

next we will be seeing guys retire from the nba and going back to school. granted, it will most likely be guys that never played much (if any) pro ball, but were good enough to be drafted by an nba team.

5th year pro from OZ.

I toured New Zealand in June 2008. They're Professional Basketball Championship was going on. I believe Janesville Craig would have whooped then. My fraternity Club team - mostly ruggers- might have gotten hardware.

This is the kid's first chance

Looks like John Blackwell has entered the portal. He'll likely pick up a nice NIL deal kinda like Hepburn did last year. UW just doesn't have the cash to keep these kind of guys. Gard will need to hit the portal hard for a replacement. My guess is JB was told he's not really likely to be drafted by the NBA. Make all the NIL money you can before you go overseas.

UW has gotten their first portal commitment. Trey Autry, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound guard from George Washington (a solid A10 program) will join the Badgers and likely start at the 2 or less likely be the 6th man, taking on Carrington's role from last season. He started 34 games last season, averaging 11.0 pts, 3.5 rebs, and 1.5 assists in about 29 min per game. He shot 38.5% on over 6 three-point attempts per game.
