Brewers 2025 Season Thread

Brewers screwed the pooch big time at trade deadline.

Traded Nestor Cortes, a prospect they signed as international player paying $1.5 million for him in Jan 2024 and sending cash for a 28 year old OF who's said only value is as a pinch runner.

Then trade PTBNL or cash for a SP who had TJ and won't play the rest of this year and MKE is paying the rest of his 25 million salary just to get a 32 year old RP who is having a good season but is also hurt and on the IL and no set return for him.

So Brewers get a usless OF and 2 hurt pitchers at the trade deadline and don't fix the SS spot or get a power bat.

Shows MKE FO is not serious about making a push for the playoffs.
you said they were dead in the water early and often and they put egg on your face. Baseball isn't your strong suit my friend.

I will admit after that early start did not look good but they Did F up here at the deadline. There is zero excuse to stand pat. Even more so knowing Chourio was going on the IL and the OF they got was the best they could do. There was a couple guys they could have got that would have helped. I just don't think prospect hugging was best choice to go. MKE drafts well and can replace the talent they trade out

I just didn't see any meaningful upgrades (for example, SS). I'm okay with how it went. I want smart moves that help. If the only available moves aren’t smart (sending out substantial assets for low-probability “upgrades”, e.g., Milwaukee Bucks) then the smartest move is to stand pat. Let's just hope the best team in baseball continues to scrap through the rest of the season!

Playing away today without Chourio (10-day DL), Turang or Frelich - with Quinitana pitching. Murphy not wasting any time in getting OF Lockridge (from SD) and C Jansen (from TB) in. It's against the Nats so there's that, but still should be a good game to get an idea how our recent acquisitions will perform.
