In the grand scheme it's not a lot of money, but in the Brewers world it sure is. Their entire payroll is now about $85-100mil. Bradley, a defensive/depth guy is eating up 12-15% of your payroll. That doesn't make a ton of sense to me though I will concede that Cain was playing hurt late in 2019 and sat out 2020 so may need to sit more this season. Maybe Garcia will have to take a lesser role or maybe he can play some 1B.
They also still need to find some depth at 3B unless Travis Shaw looks good this spring and they add him to the roster. There are still a bunch of so-so 3B options as free agents but nothing inspiring. Hopefully this deal makes more sense to me in July/Aug that it does right now.
