Next Badgers Football Coach

Everyone is right. Lots has to change.

I don't know if Leonhard is the answer or not. I love the story. Regardless, I want the best coach to run the program and inspire and energize the kids

We're never going to recruit as well as some programs. But we were better at identifying and getting projects that could be coached above their percieved potential. We need to get back to that - find those guys and coach them up.

For QBs, we may need to recruit heavy in the transfer portal. I don't think we are enticing to the High School Stud QBs.

Hopefully this gets figured out

And if your in the portal you are there for a reason

Actually it's kind of a mixed bag I think. Look at Jack Coan, he was a quality QB that ended up in a tough situation. He wasn't in the portal because he sucked. The kid at Illinois came through the portal as well I believe. Again, not a star, but certainly a quality starter.

Well that’s were it get subjected. The way #5 is playing now he’s probably a quality starter. He’s not Wilson out of the portal. If you are looking for a Caleb Williams good luck

Wisconsin emphasizes the holistic application process. As far as core requirements to get into school, they require placement testing, and guidance, to help new students complete the core requirements they might not have. That's why they say they emphasize holistic application, and by the way, they do look at the work in humanities done prior to enrollment.

Ok change things if you can play a sport and chew gum and walk at the same time you qualify to get into a school. :)

That’s for the general student body TW. Let’s not confuse that with how institutions admit athletes especially in revenue sports. It’s not an apples to apples approach. Big Ten requires you to be eligible on the first day of classes in order to compete and receive your athletics aid, see the Issac Ham situation. I can guarantee you that while the student population needs about a 3.8 to get into UW that’s relaxed a bit for athletes. I’m beating a dead horse but core requirements and ongoing credit loads are above NCAA standards

So Leonhard is the interim coach.

Brown gets in a fight and is dismissed. I wasn't there and don't know what caused it. Could be lots of things. Could be 5 star recruit had entitlement attitude, didn't work hard, and guys with less pedigree beat him out. He could have got cocky and got called out. I doubt he was dismissed for the fight. I bet, he was probably dismissed because of the reason for the fight.

Seems like the problems have been more on offense.

I anticipate many of Chryst's recruits will transfer. Probably more because Chryst was their guy and he's not there and some other guy will be coach rather than because of Leonhard.

Agree, there appears a 'culture' issue. However, let's see how Leonhard handles it.

I'm not saying Leonhard should be handed the job, but he should be allowed a chance to earn it. Let's see what happens

Badgers upset Purdue and just dominate them. 4 games left and UW has to go 2-2 to be able to get to a bowl game. If UW does that I think it's very likely the people calling the shots for the next head coach will approve giving the job to Leonard. Big issue will be who he hires for his OC. I do not think you can keep Engram as the OC as you need someone better. If Leonard does keep the job I think it's probably a 4 year deal were he gets 2-3 years to see how he recruits and how the team does. If the Badgers struggle over next 2 years he likely is shown the door. He does average UW gets 7-8 wins he keeps seeing his contract get extended.

Another week of Jimmy L's prep and program. Just wait what a few more weeks bring. He has them humming. He's gonna be in the hunt for the permanent HC gig.
