OK, here goes........................
2021: current cap room $5.925M
2022: current cap <overage> <$33.77M>
Green Bay likely rolls over a small amount of 2021 cap into 2022........say $2M. Reduces the 2022 overage to <$31M>.
Obvious Players not coming back:
Aaron Rodgers: Traded. (2nd, but maybe 1st if 3 or more teams get involved)
Z. Smith: Released. Back injury makes it too risky to keep and/or extend his contract
Dean Lowry: Released. Underperforming current contract
Marcedes Lewis: Released: Age. Get the feeling that when Rodgers leaves, he leaves too.
P. Smith: Released. There's no way an extension will lower his cap number enough to make it work.
Possible Players not coming back:
Billy Turner: Released. Reason - Age (31 next year). An extension would be only way to keep him, but unlikely given age-cost-cheaper replacements already on roster. OT draft pick high possibility.
Mason Crosby: Released. Reason - Age & cost. With a cap # of $4.735M it just doesn't work. The rest of this season is an audition for him.
Possible Extensions:
Adrian Amos: His value is hard to replace, but his cap # is too high. His stability is worth an extension
Jaire Alexander: Obvious extension. $13.29M 2022 cap # could be cut in half
Wild Card Extension:
Davante Adams: Franchise Tag / Trade. His talent says "stay". His age & cost says trade (Get a 1st or 2nd)
