Packers 2025-26 Season Thread

Only issue many are bringing up that I can agree on is Gute ignored CB for a 7th round flyer project who might not make the team. If he knew this was a likely outcome. Gute should have focused sooner in the draft to get a CB even if it means trading up and giving up picks or doing more in FA then just signing Hobbs.
Not to rehash the past, but the options at corner in the second round were Shavon Revel, coming off an ACL tear, and Trey Amos, who it came out after the draft was off the boards of about half of teams due to a back injury/condition. We how it plays out for better or worse.

think the much bigger screw up was actually not getting a corner in the 2024 draft, when it was a deeper more talented group.

Agree. I think there was more Gute could have done, but it was a weird year to try to fix CB. The guys with size and athleticism were there but seemingly all had injury concerns and the little guys were not options.

Other teams struggled as well. The Ravens needed a CB but didn't address it until Day 3. The 49ers reached for tiny Upton Stout in Rd3. The Jaguars didn't address it at all in the draft and only grabbed a Nate Hobbs type guy in FA.

I agree about reaching for corners. This was an odd draft, Packer fans (perhaps rightly) complain about the reach for Belton but other teams were reaching left and right for needs.

The Ravens needed a corner but at least last year they drafted Nate Wiggins in the first. He's skinny as a rail and GB doesn't draft corners with that build, but at least they have a talented prospect there this year. I didn't like the Morgan pick in the first last year, and it just doesn't seem like they even have a plan or a vision for him, which puts him on the path to be maybe the worst first round pick of the Gute era. I'm happy to have Cooper and Bullard but then they took Tyron Hopper - another player without a fit or vision - instead of Jarrian Jones, who had an INT against Jordan Love this season. We'd probably feel better about depth with a guy like that on the roster.

I remember a few years back when we were being told that DB was one of our strongest positions . . . . and then they ignored it.
