Packers 2025 Training Camp Thread

Kind of ominous. I didn’t like the Morgan pick last year overall but I thought it didn’t make a lick of sense if they didn’t at least try him at LT. Well, apparently they see Morgan as a G only at this point, and why we spent a first round pick on a developmental RG is beyond me.

Now we have the controversial Belton pick from this draft. His size, weight, demeanor sounded like a G to me, but apparently they want him at LT. Granted his best reps at the senior bowl were at LT, but I’m concerned about his overall balance for the position.

On the whole I have the impression that the FO and coaching staff have bungled a lot of the turnover on the OL. Would love to be proven wrong, let’s see how it plays out over the next few weeks.

honestly gute just sucks at picking ol in the first round. like i said in another post, he needs to get out of his own way and let the head coach make the first round picks.

Murphy consulting with Charlie Casserly might have a higher hit rate.

In the First Round, isn't Gute's legacy: (1) Jordan Love - turning out, but was he really needed at the time we took him when we had a QB who could have used more weapons and a defense that was adept at avoiding tackles, (2) A defensive lineman from Iowa who never started, (3) A tackle from Arizona who is now apparently becoming a guard, and (3) A tackle guard who people from Clemson ran over?

I hope Gute's Crystal Ball actually works, because he seems to reach for a genius pick.

it clearly doesn't work. the love pick was revenge against the former qb's complaints about not using a first round pick on a wr. he was just lucky that it has worked out as well as it has. but you notice that gute hasn't had any problem at all using high draft picks on wrs with love at qb. not saying they have been good picks, but at least he's trying. if you ask me (and nobody ever does), gute wasted the career of one of the best qbs to ever play the game.

He had Adams as his number one and got a home run pick with Jones at RB. Gute issue was he kept trying to fix the defense with high pick after high pick to this day and can't get it right.

adams was a second round pick, and jones was a fifth round pick. not taking away from either of those two players. but once again it shows a reluctance to spend first round picks on the former qb's offense. gute really did hit the jackpot with jones, i will grant you that. whether that was luck or skill, i'll leave that up to you.

elgton jenkins was back in practice today and wearing pads, but he only did individua drills.

sorry about the source of this post, mark, but it was the best one i could find:

Not sure I believe him but I'm glad he's back and playing ball, and I hope he gets paid again at some point, here or elsewhere.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how Center is less valued salary wise than Guard.

I get that Centers are not Left Tackles. But, because it's my understanding that Centers make the line calls and snap the ball, I thought they'd at least be up there with Right Tackle Salaries if not more.
