I did some digging. Yikes! Since Gute took over in 2018 we have drafted 3 CBs in the first 3 rounds: Jaire Alexander, Josh Jackson, & Eric Stokes.

You can also say that Hayward was the only other one outside Jaire that was good in the past 15 drafts….just not for us because we let him walk.

I fully expect them to add to the CB room this year, for no other reason than, from a financial/roster standpoint, they are quickly running out of "bodies under contract". Nixon, Valentine expire after this season, and I expect them to get out of the Hobbes contract after this year as well. There's just no one left, they need guys under digestible contracts for 2027.

Of course they have needs elsewhere like DL and OL but they have players under friendly or at least palatable deals for the next two years at the moment. At corner they just don't.

I expect no fewer than 3 new bodies in the room between draft and FA. Again, just look at 2027 players under contract - multiple players at various spots, but zero CBs except Hobbs, and I expect them to move on from him.

did a new draft, traded down....got two decent corners that way, a high ceiling OT and a tweener DT/DE plus an edge.
