On a beautiful end-of-summer day the Packers had all but one of their players taking part in practice on Clarke Hinkle Field Wednesday.
Safety Morgan Burnett was dressed but did not take part in any drills. His status won't be known until the injury report comes out later today.
The big news was that WR Randall Cobb was back on the field and took part in all of the individual drills, including catching punts and kickoffs. Cobb sprained his shoulder against Philadelphia on Aug. 29 but apparently has made enough progress to get back on the field.
It wasn't clear how many snaps Cobb took with the team because team drills are closed to the media. The big test for him will occur Thursday when the practice is expected to be held in full pads. That should be a good test of where his shoulder is at.
The offensive line was back intact. Guard T.J. Lang (concussion), G Josh Sitton (ankle) and LT David Bakhtiari (knee) were together for the first time since the New England game Aug. 13. Lang and Sitton have not played in a game since being injured against Pittsburgh. Aug. 23.
S Micah Hyde (neck) appeared to be doing everything, including returning punts. Receiver Ty Montgomery (hamstring) also was participating, working on both kicks and punts.
CB Demetri Goodson (knee) worked individual drills.
LB Nate Palmer and RB Alonzo Harris both were practicing without clubs on their broken hands. For Palmer it's the first time he's done that since Aug. 2.
Newcomer James Jones hung out with the quarterbacks during much of practice and caught short passes from them. It's the same thing WR Jordy Nelson used to do before the start of team drills last year. Jones spent a lot of time talking with offensive coordinator Edgar Bennett.
