I know there is a lot of discussion of Eddie being fat and out of shape and also about his ankle injury. Both are valid concerns but one thing I have noticed is Lacy is not being utilized in the passing game at all. Last year Lacy had 43 receptions on 55 targets. This year he has 10 receptions on 14 targets. Starks is on about the same pace as last year for receptions and targets or maybe even slightly ahead of last year but overall they aren't using the RBs in the passing game much at all.
Another item of note is regarding passing yards.
Last year Rodgers threw 252 passes from 1-10 yards and 118 passes from 11-20 yards. This year he has thrown 95 from 1-10 and 41 from 11 - 20. That's 360 passes from 1-20 yards last year and only 136 through 7 games this year which is on pace for 310 passes from 1-20 yards this season. The numbers for the other distances are about the same as last year.
We have all seen guys open in the short patterns and Aaron either doesn't see them or is refusing to pass to them.
I also saw someone point out that Rodgers is 2nd to last in pass attempts this year.
For this offense to be successful I think it is imperative that Rodgers pass attempts increase and the frequency of the short passes has to increase.
