the other 90% of the time he's just out there half assing it to collect a game check.
How bad was Gary last night? Only stat he recorded last night was a QB hit which he had 2. No tackles no sacks.
I don't think you can say that without seeing how he performs after an ACL. It has changed more than one player from being a game-changing stud to an excellent player. Now the injury is no one's fault, you can't not factor it in either. At least we have a difference making edge rusher for a few more years.
If you watch Parsons he also plays hard all the time he will try to fight through holds and double teams. Never see that out of Gary.I'm not sure he's half-assing it so much as "he's just not that good". A one trick bull-rushing pony with little burst or bend who pretends to have both. I didn't like the pick when it was made. I'd trade him for a quality player or anything more than a 5th Rd pick.
(PS - that's why I'm not upset at losing those 2 first rd picks for Parsons because what the hell has Gute done with his Rd1 picks that makes me think he's suddenly gonna draft a difference making OL or CB in Rd1. At least we have a difference making edge rusher for a few more years. Parsons makes Gary expendable in the off-season and taking his money [$11mil) off the books may give us some room to sign a quality player at a position of need. Combine that with a $20mil savings from cutting/trading Jenkins and you have options.)
That's the nuts and bolts of it.I'm not sure he's half-assing it so much as "he's just not that good". A one trick bull-rushing pony with little burst or bend who pretends to have both. I didn't like the pick when it was made. I'd trade him for a quality player or anything more than a 5th Rd pick.
if you want to boil it down to a single play, then yes - doubs lost the game for us. but the packers had a 16-6 lead with 5:03 left on the clock, and that's when the packers defense clocked out. their bodies were still in the stadium, but they checked out. actually, they clocked out one drive earlier because the bears scored on four straight drives. but then again, the packers offense failed to score again when they had chances. i have to cut the offense a little slack because their starting qb went down. i thought willis played well, but the packers only scored a field goal on his first possession and that was the last dying gasp of the packers offense. so in my mind it was a total team loss - not a one-man loss. Also I'm just putting this out there, I put the blame for the onside kick entirely on Doubs. The ST coach didn't tell him to drop it. The player blew it. They rep it, practice it. He blew it. He's not a part of the future of this team and yeah, he blew it for them this game.
i agree, but it should be a condition of his contract renewal that his buddy bisachia needs to go pound sand. we need a big improvement with our special teams. No way ML would accept just a one year thing, nor should he. Until a couple individual players boffed the game that as one of the best coached games of his life. Frankly I think he's earned a long term extension after this season.
