Post Game Preseason Game 1 Jets Slaughter GB

Make no mistake, this game is meaningless in the scheme of things. That said, we got our backsides handed to us in all 3 phases. The team has bad depth past #30. Gute needs to address OL depth and the defensive backfield in the next 3 weeks.

Colts up next.
I would get on the phone with Brandon Sherffs' agent today. He's 33 or 34 but he would be a solid interior starter at RG.

Assante Samuel is still out there but he's coming off a neck injury and probably wants starter money.

Otherwise we're looking at a trade. Besides picks, I see two potential players who might be worth something to other teams and who the Packers could conceivably move:

1. Karl Brooks. Has had a quiet camp and doesn't seem to fit the mold of guys they are working with now but he actually has NFL production as a DT and that means a lot to teams. Could get OL depth for him maybe.

2. Javon Bullard. Don't kill me here, this has nothing to do with him as a player and everything to do with how the team is dead set on using him. He's a S and should be playing S but they are hammering him into the role of slot CB where he clearly continues to struggle. I don't get it, he's talented, I love his attitude out there but I don't think the team is doing him any favors in his career. He's under a rookie deal 3 more seasons, major pedigree, and maybe another team would be willing to part with an actual corner prospect for him?

I don't have any issues with this except we can't afford to move Bullard... not enough depth. I would move a DL for a corner. I would part with a 4th or 5th round pick for OL depth.

Yep don't understand why Hafly is deadset that Bullard is a CB not a S. GB is trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole.

Not trying to overreact to a preseason pass rush rep but it's part of a larger picture. Kenny is probably getting to the end here. 1-on-1 with a rookie was usually a slaughter for Clark but that kid isn't even breaking a sweat against him. Too easy.

Yeah Clark is most likely a cap cut after this year. He's going into his 10th year. Plus when they drafted him it was for a 3-4 scheme and now running a 4-3.

I don't know why this is but GB has played this way in preseason games going back 20 years. They never come out looking prepared or interested. At this point it's a cultural thing, and it's part of the culture ML has built and lived with. Think about it this way, when ML came in he had Rodgers, Adams, Aaron Jones and a veteran OL. Those guys didn't take preseason reps because they really didn't need them. They would take one regular season game to get into shape and then they'd turn it on from there. Since 2023 he's been trying to run a veteran preseason schedule with a much younger, less experienced starting roster. A culture change may be needed where these guys need to expect to play and play for real in the preseason, but that kind of change isn't going to happen overnight if that's what he's after. Problem now is that the NFCN is not a cupcake division any more, you can't take the whole month of September to get in gear because you could wind up hopelessly behind 2 or even 3 other teams in your own division. They have to play and figure this out in the next couple weeks.
I kind of agree but your forgetting that every coach is limited by CBA on how much teams practice and play prior to game 1. The days of extra practice and reps are gone forever, and I fully expect pre-season to go away completly the next time they negotiate a deal.

There was a culture change here from MM to ML... I've listened to fans bitch about coaching since 1973 or so. However, it's talent that's missing, and until Gute and the front office get jacked up, it really won't matter who the HC is and his culture.

In the NFL Talent wins FB games.
