Preseason Week 3 Green Bay vs Oakland Thread

It's a late start for us here in the Midwest. To them, it's actually early. California don't start rocking until after 10 PM.

For us East coast folks it's pure bullpucky. I also think the NFL along with the NCAA can take their Friday night game and shove them up their backsides. Friday nights are for HS period. That was an unwritten rule agreed too for decades until a bunch of greedy bastards got involved. End rant. PS I am only good for a half maybe in this game.

This game means very little accept to guys on the bubble trying to make the team.

Greed always wins. Even the "good deeds" done by the NFL is nothing more than a pittance, and the publicity that they get is worth billions.

I'll watch half and DVR the rest. Supposed to be rainy around here Saturday morning so I'll watch the rest then. Plus, from the sound of it, I'll need to be well rested not to fall asleep for the 2nd half. Nice thing though is that I probably will go see a local high school game and be home for the Packer's kick off.

Starting at 9:30 and most if not all starters out I probably won't watch any of it

It's amazing how preseason has slowly evolved into nothing. It's as if the coaches have said; "My mind is made up. I already know who I want on the team. We don't need to see how they do in games."

I can remember when guys went into camp with a chance of making the team if not drafted. I can also remember when a 17th round pick (Bart Starr) was able to make the team, and stick, despite guys like Rote & Parilli challenging him. They weren't slouches.

An unrestricted free agent has very little chance of making it. They just don't get the exposure in games they need to prove they're special.

Its more of how the game has changed. Now we have OTA's , rookie camps, off season workouts. The league is 12 months now with a very small off season window. Back the days of Starr it was training camp only, you had no film on these guys at all. If it was not for the $$$ and revenue for networks and $$$ in team revenue there would be no pre season

Another reason ratings are down, over saturation but hey thats not the narrative some want to see, better stop there
