He got the “accumulation of information “ from sources. Please he did not get the info from Talking Elmo. Maybe semantics but “sources” come from multiple places.
It’s a very small percentage and usually want to get their first scoopThough to many reporters today run with stories to often without fact checking to first break it and be able to get clicks.
I have sources too. You have sources. We all have sources. Why don't we all write our own stories and cite these "sources". Or better yet, let's use the accumulation of info we've read or heard and write us a good old article. I can imagine how well that would go over.
Just because you tell me you have sources, doesn't mean you really have them. It's not a hard to understand point.

Here’s if some context. Reporters and news outlets/ sports outlets rely on access. Access requires trust. If a reporter continually reports false stories they lose trust and access. With out that you lose jobI have sources too. You have sources. We all have sources. Why don't we all write our own stories and cite these "sources". My larger point was not so much about using sources. It was "saying" you have sources when in reality, we all could "say" we have sources. That doesn't mean that we do have sources.ESPN guys hanging out at the Bar to get sources LOL
