Rodgers Wants Out

As much as I'd like to see that happen at this point, I don't know how they'd make it through the huge hit they'd take on the cap for this year.
I think we have to buckle down, take the cap hit and maximize the football player assets/capital.

It's going to hurt, but the longer we wait, we get nothing and no cap help.

I see 3 considerations:

1) Cap
2) Cash
3) Football player assets/capital

1) We're screwed in the cap either way. But, we're going to have growing pains when Rodgers leaves. Take the hit, suffer, now, be done with it.
2) Cash. I think it's a wash.
3) Losing Ridgers will hit hard. But he's at optimum value now. At least we can get some players to hopefully level it off next year and in the near future.

This is clearly a guy who doesn't care about the team, and doesn't respect the team. His actions don't back up his claims of respect for the team and the fans and the city.

Hey Gutey and Murphy, it's over, put on the big boy pants and make the tough decision. Just come out with a clear direction. Either call him out publicly and release a very clear, Arod can come back or retire.... Or go the second option which is "we're open for business give us a call"

Thinking he comes back and GB has another shot at a SB is fantasy land. This guy doesn't care, he isn't gonna repeat last year. Because last year was about showing up Gutey and Murphy. He did that, mission accomplished. He has nothing else to show in GB right now. He said as much "i messed up someones timeline". It was never about winning.

Reality check, GB is not a SB contender with Arod this year. That's not his motivation. Time to move on.

Every time I look at the cap, I wonder where we can cut $21 million out for this year, and next, to cover trading him at this point. It means reworking several contracts, putting us in a deeper cap hole later, then cutting people who we might need to be competitive. It's a conundrum.

I’d like to understand how you are calculating that TW.

I like to look at Over-The-Cap, some folks like Spotrac.
OTC says if GB cuts/releases Rodgers after June 1st (and its after 6/1) the will gain $16M in cap space for 2021.
If they trade Rodgers after 6/1, they gain $22M in 2021 cap space.
Now, Rodgers is still going to count against the 2022 cap at about $17M in dead cap space as well since the remainder of the pro-rata signing bonus gets assessed.

so, I’m confused by what you are saying about the cap space in your comment. Help me out dear sir!

Starting to think you are right about this.

Lot of truth to this. Unfortunately

Agree danno. I've pretty much felt like this since the beginning of this fiasco. The guy has cut his family out of his life . . . what makes anyone think he won't cut the team out of his life just as fast and just as thoroughly for something he perceives as more than a small reason. Trade him for maximum value and move on. Doesn't matter anymore who's to blame, it's over . . . IMO.

You're right. It does have less impact.

If GB was going to trade him he would have been traded by now. GB is at the point they will say well you have two choices sit out or play for us in 2021.
