Rodgers Wants Out

Murphy is 65, I think seeing through the end of the Rodgers era is his swan song. Policy isn’t long term GB, he worked for the arena league and was a NFL executive, they will like his connections. Just seems like he’s being groomed for the job, I mean look at the guy.

  • Broad legal experience includes litigation, sports labor relations, sports facility construction and commercial real estate
That’s today’s NFL

Good he can make team money just keep his hands off the football side.

"I'll mediate this thing. Just give it all to JJ and I'll make this thing right. I'll make sure we get Aaron for 5-6 more years, couple more championships. I'll meditate."
That's a quote from James Jones. What does Aaron want? 5-6 more years. 5-6 more years. 5-6. more. years.

That's what it's all about IMO. Rodgers wants them to commit to him through Love's contract. He wants the Brady-Jimmy G thing, the team can develop Love and trade him, but he wants the team to admit (in deed, if not word) that they made a mistake drafting his replacement so soon.

GB seem(ed)(s) willing to do something 1-2, AR wants 5 - if I had to bet, I think they meet at 3-4.

That's why if team commit to Rodgers for 3 more years then that goes through his rookie deal and Rodgers knows they won't pick up a 5th year on a guy who sat on the bench for 4 years.

Control of the timeline

I still maintain my stance:

  • If GB believes that Love can play in the NFL, then you stick with your plan
  • If GB got a good look at him last year and this off-season in his workouts and has buyers remorse (which happens all the time), then don't be too proud to admit your mistake and compound it by dumping Rodgers at this point
The absolute worst thing you can do it have reservations about Love but stick with your plan "just because"

What you are saying, makes more and more sense. Good call. You nailed it awhile ago!

Agreed. Don't cut off your nose to spite your face.

Next question; If all works out, when is the right time to draft and develop the next QB? When will AR be happy about that?

While I agree with this on the surface, I don't think you can evaluate a guy in that timeframe given that last season was limited. Now if he took some snaps in pre season games maybe but on a scout team or film room I have my reservations
