We have crap strung everywhere on the subject, so I figured it needs a thread. Here's a defensive guy's take, yes, some of you despise when I do this crap, but tough chit... Here's a pure x -o take.

A. Our OL SUCKS, it's not debatable. I don't know how fixable it is either. As a DC, I don't need extra in the box because you suck.
B. We are down WR 1 and 2; hopefully, Golden returns. Watson drops as many as he catches. Wicks and Heath are just guys. The stud Tucker Kraft is done. Reed is on IR. If you're a DC, who am I afraid of ???? Answer.... Nobody.
C. No RB I didn't lead with it... our personal now today meh... bag)) Thanks Gute
D. After reading this, I still hear...MLF should throw more? To Who? OR change it up.... To who or how?? I am listening?

Mark's answer. The only relevant football thing here is to go with the short passing game and run the bubble screens and misdirection stuff everyone's been bitching about. As soon as you get the D to bite even a little, then you can run outside zones and play action deep. BUT with everything above and the dipshit GM not adding pieces, not sure there is a miracle here that any HC or OC can fix.

Jordan Morgan ranks 95th in PFF grade out of 108 OL that have played at least 500 snaps this year.
 
How bad is the Packers OL now?

C-Rhyan
RG-Morgan
RT-Tom

Backups-Jennings, Kinnard, Belton, Monk

Starters are below average the backups are questionable to even be on a roster.

There is no way to fix this anymore this year and with Walker, Rhyan, and Jenkins likely leaving the team that is 3 guys who started for you that you need to replace. Not sure what happens next year with Belton do they try him at LT or do they move Tom to LT and put Belton at RT? Still need a OC and your two starting guards are among the worst guards in the NFL.

like mark said the other day, it's going to take at least three years to fix it, and based on gute's track record of drafting ol, probably more.

edit: i kinda liked the idea that rp had the other day of using kinnard in the starting lineup instead of morgan. morgan is just not ready to play in the nfl. i'm not sure if he will ever be ready.

Yes, I am for throwing the ball more.

I don't have all the answers. Our offensive line is horrible. I don't see anyway to fix the mental and physical problems with it. We have terribly over-evaluated who we have. They don't have it mentally or physically. I don't believe it's fixable. I don't care if we let them all go after the season. 8-10 rookies who are hungry would perform better.

We can't run behind our offensive line. There isn't any fix. You can't make people smarter or stronger mid-season. Fixing the offensive line is not an option this season.

So what do? Just keep running into a wall and quitting for the season? That isn't the answer. The answer has to be changing the strategy to put less stress on the offensive line.

I think the only thing that can change during the season is lighting a fire under our receiving corp. Getting on them holding them accountable. Then changing our game plan to short quick Bill Walsh West Coast Passes. Bill Walsh said it's less energy to throw for 4 yards than to run for it, and they made it work.

I know. I know. I know. That doesn't work. Well it worked for the 49ers. It's worked for other teams. It works against our pass rush. And, it opened up a running game and a deep passing game. I don't think we have a choice but to try it or give up the season.
 
I'll tell you something. If we just run the ball into the Giants wall next Sunday, I think we put more effort into trying to figure out how to make something work than the coaches.
 
And, I mean it Mark. In January or February after Superhole (The day before the Superbowl). Come out here. Your Xs and Os and my kind gentle self could figure out a fix.
